I guess this is why BC offers “extreme low” as an additional option.

Fortune auto be like “if you wanna gay it up go ahead. Don’t ask us for it”

Assembled. Went by the shop and did that tonight.

I’m off tomorrow so I’ll be at the shop in the morning installing everything on the car. Then it’s just alignment, change oil, bleed brakes, enjoy!

Well this is a total buzz kill.
Got the car all sorted. Fortune autos installed. Alignment done.
    oil changed.
    tires mounted.
    wheels bolted on.
Car was driving well and feeling amazing. Front end was feeling nice and pointy. Very strong.

was doing a little cruising as the weathers super nice and I wanted to scrub in the tires as it’s calling for some rain tomorrow.

    on my test drive…

Hondata shows my voltage at 11.9. Alternators whining nicely. It’s DEAD. This sucks lol.

on my way home voltage came back up to 14 and battery light went away. Here I am thinking maybe I send it tomorrow. Then soon as I get to my street voltage drops again. Down to 11.8. Damn. My luck sometimes is just terrible.

the car will sit and wait. New alternator will go on Monday then I’ll hit the track may 18th for a private event

At least you weren't at the track and it happened. Talk about blue balls. Do you need to underdrive it due to all the high rpm use?

Yea definitely better it happened here vs 2 hours away. I knew this alternator was sketchy end of last season but I decided to just send it.

i looked into under drive pullies. Someone does make one. I haven’t found much on the topic but I’m thinking about it

I ended up going to the track on sunday. Just hung out and did some bbqing. My friend wanted me there to help instruct if people needed.

i drove his lucky dog endurance Ep3. Stock k20a3(130whp) with no mods no tuning. Fully stripped and gutted interior. Even sound deadening is gone. Sunroof deleted. No passenger seat. Thing must weigh around 2200lbs or so

man I did not expect the thing to be so light. It changed direction well, stopped well, and took curbs really well! Very forgiving to drive.

what I didn’t like was the 35* of dead steering. Turn the wheel. Nothing. Little more? Nothing. 1* more? ALL OF IT. It felt terrible and inspired no confidence. His drivers were complaining the car is too loose but that isn’t it. It’s the steering. I’m guessing the rack is just preloading or something because that last extra 1* of input gives ALL of the steering. The back end just wants to come around.

That mixed with the rear brakes locking up everywhere(no abs) made the car loose if you trail braked it. I told his drivers to stop that until they fix it.

The ep3 also suffers some understeer but I get it’s setup for all the drivers and their differing levels. It really made me appreciate my car so much more. Pointy front end. Feels great at turn in and inspires so much confidence.

I’m hoping to get out on may 18th for lapping. Hopefully the weathers nice.

a friend is trying to get me to do auto x next weekend. I’ve never done parking lot racing. Never really had any interest lol

So it’s a wosca event out at some airport near grand bend. Huron park area. Bit of a drive but no further away then my usual tracks.

it’s a 2.5km course, average lap times are 1:20 so that’s actually freaking decent. Few videos I watched people are well over 60mph. I’d say the average speed is probably 55-60mph.

my Mazda wasn’t a good autox candidate but I believe the civic will do well.

this event will help me with car control in a huge way. I’m bringing my stagger setup, and I might set my sway bar to full kill(this will be extremely difficult to drive). I’m taking this as a learning event. Anything I can learn here will directly transfer to the race track

the airport, TONS of room to spin out here lol

I know you film your runs on the track. Do you use Race Render for converting the videos? I did an AutoX this past Sunday and took some footage but I'm confused as how to set the end point of the track. It pulled up my GPS information and shows the course but getting the timing down is a little difficult.

Going back and watching my videos showed me where I need to improve. Maybe I should take a trip up your way sometime and hit the track with you. Do a MS.org event with y'all Canadian dudes.

So I film everything with my GoPro hero 7. In my early days I was using the built in gps data for telemetry overlay. It’s far from great. The gps is buggy as hell and only worked when it wanted to.

I use race render for all my data overlays. Basically, footage goes into race render. I get the data overlay setup either using GoPro data(not anymore) or using my AIM data(this is much trickier lining up video and data from 2 separate sources) but I have gotten pretty good at it now.

After race render, I export then load it into Adobe premiere to do final editing/whatever else

If you ever want to come down here for track day or autox or whatever definitely let me know. I think it would be awesome lol. I’ve met a few other MSO members when I went to Michigan last summer

First autox ever. Completed. Talked to a few guys and they told me straight up track driving and auto x driving is very different. The people are also very different lol specially in how they drive. I learned what NOT to do on the race track lmao. I also learned a few other things too so that was great! I got what I wanted out of today. Big success! I did under drive a ton though but that’s ok.

the course was tighter then everyone expected today but that’s ok. There were planes using the other half of the runway today so they couldn’t go full massive setup. Ah well. I learned what I needed to lol. My fastest run of the day I clipped a cone and that penalty of 2 seconds killed my time. Here’s my best run of the day without hitting any cones. I didn’t spin the car at all and that was one of my main goals so that’s good! I was worried about that. Coulda pushed harder lol. My fastest run was when I made the car the most loose. Good to know.

Track day confirmed for may 22nd. I hope they run the larger layout as it’s by far the most fun.

Excited to really wind the car out. Autox gave me a small taste and now I have somewhat shaken the off season rust off. Tires feel gooooood. Excited to see how we do!

Had a few comments regarding how my car sounds/vtec crossover. I thought the aggressive sound was just due to the cams but it appears to be more…

this is from my tuner guy in Germany. I guess this is the secret sauce cause I even had 8th Gen si owners comment on how aggressive my car sounds vs their own/others

Welp. First track day = some BS. I got about 8 good laps in…with traffic lol. My warm up laps were quick though. The civic is an animal on track now with all its power. Never have I ever complained of understeer until now. Thing feels fantastic. Needs more rear sway bar but I was adding rear tire pressure and dampening for now. It was getting more dialed in until…
    7CDB4513-0DA0-406B-B62E-F03AB84FBA39.jpeg

same side hub failed same way last year on track. That was an oem hub. This one is part store special. I guess they suck?
Totally killed my day. Just as I was starting to turn up the driving.

apparently this is a known issue with 8th gen civic and tsx cars. No known upgrade at this point

    Could’ve been much much worse

    Broken hub
