If you insist! Did you vinyl wrap it yourself? I was thinking of making a how-to thread. It would mostly say:
Step 1) stretch vinyl along the body panel and trim to approximate size. Stock midway with magnet
Step 2) peel off the backing half way and trim, being careful not to let it stick to itself or the car prematurely
Step 3) ponder your life choices
Step 4 likely involves some sort of suicide.

Anyway, 3M matte metallic gray for me...

I did do it myself but I also own a small company that does vehicle wraps after hours.

Those magnets come in handy! Although I gotten to where I just pull the whole backing sheet in one swoop then start the wrapping process.

Awesome! Sounds like YOU need to write the How-to. I can supply timelapse videos of the struggles for the lolz.

I spent between $500-$600 in vinyl and other supplies, followed by >160 [man] hours. I think it was 5 full weekends with 2 people.
Cost of having it done is typically >$1200. I think $2k-$4k is common.

What are the pros/cons of this as opposed to painting?

Retail I would charge about $2000 or $2200.

When it's not my personal crap and spread between paying customers I can have a car done in a weekend.

Not bad really. Only sucky part is the clear coat is not quite thick enough in some areas so you can see a slight weave texture through the wrap. You have to be looking for it but it's there.

a couple years ago my car was keyed by a crazy girl so I took the 1,000 dollars plus the insurance money and had a good friend of mine repaint the whole car. I have the whole red and black scheme going on and I wanted something subtle so we took the factory black mica and mixed in some candy apple red peal. surprised both of us as it came out really nice. its kind of hard to see in photos so ill keep updating until I get a good shot. in the bright of the day it almost has copper tint, in the evening when the light his it right you can see the red peal, as it gets darker it looks like black mica, and at night under light its almost like a black cherry mica File Feb 12, 8 45 48 PM.jpeg

File Feb 12, 8 45 48 PM.jpeg my car was keyed a couple years ago and the crazy bitch that did it felt bad and gave me a 1,000 cash, so I took that and the insurance and had my good friend repaint it. I wanted something a little different but subtle so we mixed candy apple red pearl with the factory black mica and came out with a pretty cool color. when the sun hits it during the day it has a copper tint to it, in the shade it looks like black mica, in the evening it has a black cherry mica look when the light hits it right and at night it has a purple tint in the light. its hard to capture it in photos so I will update as I take some pics and try to get the effect of it

Is this wrap, dip, or paint? Very good color choice!
