So I am starting a new build this fall after harvest

Ill just list my current setup
    built motor, manley pistons, rods
built head, supertech +1 valves and 55lb springs
    corksport turbo and divorced downpipe
    xsv3 turbo mani
port matched intake mani with vcts delete
    cpe black delta core tmic

I never had it dynoed but vdyno put me at 425hp with cf1.01, if i can find a pic of it ill post it

    Heres the pistons/ rods

You can see which one is tweaked

I think the corksport turbo is a perfect stock replacement option, it makes good power for the stock block.
i wanted more, built a meth kit and i highly recommend an ewg. I never experienced creep until i added meth but once i did it creeped and tweaked a rod. Granted I am pushing 30psi, way passed the efficiency level of the turbo.
Now that I am built, naturally I want more.
New build is a precision 5858 with the ported s .70 ar compressor housing and .82 ar vband turbine housing
    cpe exhaust mani
    kozmic dp
tr10 intercooler with 2.5" hot side 3" cold side pipes ill be fabricating
    focus manifold with damond adapter
    tial qr bpv
tial mv-r wg that i will be building a recirc pipe into the dp
also putting a clutch and streetlite flywheel in it and a bunch of other small things and i will continue self tuning
Over the winter I would like to have sp63 port my head and key my cams and crank
My end goal is a solid 550whp and a flat torque curve for some track duty

Also have corbeau rrs seats (with heaters)

Here is the manifold with the ford part number, you can find it everywhere for $50-$60

Enkei Raijin 18x8.5+40 wheels and wilwood superlite calipers

Yes thats a honda b20, had to put a motor in my crv dad wagon

here is a pic of the pte5858 next to the stocker

Looks fun man! Seems like a lot of us have 550ish with a 5858 as a goal! Ha!

Good looking build. Solid numbers on that CS turbo too. How much meth were you spraying to get to that 425?

    Thanks

If i remember right its around 9gph via 2 nozzles of 100% meth. Have the smaller nozzle come on at 15psi and the bigger one comes on at 25psi. Idc max out around 65% iirc

TR10 is heavy as heck. I never realized how heavy it was until we went to install it and holding it up to install was fun :)!

Man that new turbo is soooo much larger than the stocker. Makes the stocker look like a hot wheels car next to it.

Yea it is tough to find an intercooler that will flow enough that will fit. All the pictures of tr10s ive seen on ms6 look like they fill the bumper nicely and require a lot of cutting of the crash bar. I originally wanted the tr10c but i didnt want to risk having the inlet and outlet being too high and either have the intercooler hanging too low or even more cutting of stuff.

The ported s compressor cover is huge and makes the baby stocker look so small but i really wanted the 2.5" outlet since my hotpipe will be 2.5"

Wait a sec, 425whp with only 9gph of methanol and 65 IDC? Something seems strange. I'm tuned to 380whp with a 10gph spraying 100% and my IDCs are ~90. They used to be about 100 IDC pre-meth.

Sorry 85% idc and its 8.7gph to be exact running 30psi on e30 with 12.7 afr which is probably leaner than most tuners would go

From my experience tuning my car, my meth setup accounts for about 20% of my fueling at a minimum so for your idc to only drop 10% using 10gph of 100% meth doesnt make sense at the same boost level unless you are running very very rich

I run E28 + a CM10 @ 100% and my AFR is 11.8. My tuner went the MAF scaling route to get my AFRs where we wanted, and to avoid that wacky 2.50+ load issues known to occur. 87-89 IDC is what I've seen so far in the summertime. Before, I'd see up to 105-106 in the winter. I'll be interested to see what it's down to now, with the larger nozzle. Time will tell.

Yeah, I don't like seeing 12.3 or higher. 12.7 is very lean, IMHO. N/A guys tune to 12.5 or so all the time, for instance on high power LS motors or other V8s. I like staying in the 11s for sure. That just so happened to be where Justin put me, too.

All of the alcohol lets you tune leaner and leaner is meaner. I kept going leaner and i was still making more power with no knock

I know. But you can have no knock, due to the octane of the alcohol, but still have very high cylinder temps because of the AFR you're running. cld12pk2go tuned to ~12.2-12.3 IIRC while running eth/meth. Even that made me a little uncomfortable. Personally, I'd never go close to 13. I'm no expert, for sure, but I trust my tuner. Since he put me at 11.8, I'm happy to be there. That's what I tuned my car to on my own for years. Since I'm stock block, a leaner WOT AFR makes cracked ringlands much more likely, even with a lot of alcohol. Justin himself had cracked ringlands in 3 cylinders when he tore down/built, and he was flowing a crapton of methanol (he had to, pushing his S3 to 420whp). And he was running ~11.8 AFR. He knew what was doing, was testing the limits of the stock block, and gathering valuable data.

Also, they did a lot of testing to see if there was an appreciable power difference between AFRs. They found very little difference. They tested back to back (on an actual dyno) 11.0, 11.5, and 12.0 AFR. And for me, the extra safety is worth the percent or two difference.

That test wasnt using alcohol for half of the fueling and tuners play it safe with other peoples cars, richer is safer than leaner and my egts are much lower than before meth along with my boost temps so i doubt my cylinder temps are higher and ive got 15k miles on this tune with no issues at all

I'm confused. Alcohol for half the fueling? I thought you only had ~9 gph? Running 50% alcohol @ that power would be like 40-50gph, if mixed with just straight 93. But if you're on ethanol mix too, you'd still probably need 25gph or so for 50%, I'd think.

Regarding the different affect on our IDCs, since I'm at 11.8 and you're at 12.7, I need on average 7.5% more IDC for the same power level, due to my comparative richness, and that's assuming you run E28 also. If you don't, I'll need more along the lines of 20%+ more due to ethanol eating up my IDC headroom.

Regardless, If it's working for you, that's cool. Seeing that definitely makes me pucker, though. Even on high-power 700-800whp builds spraying metric craptons of methanol that are pushing things with the main goal being power (not safety), I've not seen them run AFRs that high.

Ive run the same afr on meth supras in the past for many years with no problems and if i had the time i would show you at least a 20hp difference between running my tune for 11.8 target afr and 12.7 target afr. I tune my tractors the same way only afrs are different and the methanol only comes on over 35psi of boost which rarely happens unless im pulling something through a wet spot

I hear ya. It all depends on the power level. A 20whp difference @ 100whp is a lot different than a 20whp difference @500whp, you know? Percentage-wise, leaner AFRs haven't proven to make a big difference on Mazdaspeeds. Personally, if I wanted to make up the little extra power difference, I'd stay at the richer AFRs and just turn up the boost a tad. But hey, different strokes, different folks, etc... Looking forward to more updates in your thread :)
