Saw this today. Has it been seen by anyone else or sent to jbr? It's kind of unsettling. Having the piping diameter change on the fly will cause some tuning issues I'm sure nit to mention lag since the diameter keeps changing.

Hmmm, that's interesting for sure. I wonder what turbo/how much boost that is.

The author says 20 psi in the description. He doesn't show proof though.

Let's see if @JBR can pop in and give his opinion.

Ah. Didn't see that when I clicked on the vid. Well then, definitely very interesting. I'm wondering if this phenomenon could explain some of the lag I've been experiencing lately.

I saw that in person. It was for sure eye opening. Couldn't believe my eyes!

BNR S4 with 20-21psi. I tuned the car.

I'm not the author of the video. However, the author is a mutual friend of both of us. I have both datalogs and the dyno runfiles for that car. I can certainly atest the tune is very mild.

That certainly moves a shit ton more air than my wimpy K04 at 20 psi.

But, I have always thought my car was somewhat laggy when compared to some friend's cars with identical mods except for me having JBR pipes instead of aluminum. Still makes me wonder if the expansion of the silicone could explain it.

Actually, in this scenario 21psi k04 would be the same as a 21psi BNR S4. Turbo size has no impact. The same amount of pressure would be exerted along the wall of the tubing regardless of what turbo was on it.

So the bigger turbo will flow a lot more volume, but the pressure will still be the same, right? That's why a GT3582r, for instance, at 20psi flows waaaaaayyyyyyyyy more than something like my BNR S3 at 20psi.

Regardless, I have this silicone piping kit. This vid makes me pucker a little, LOL. Lag isn't an issue with my S3. I sure am glad I have my hose clamps on good and tight, though!

Thing is, I run a TR8C with center, 3" inlet/outlet, and a UR crashbar that I custom hung the intercooler on, so the install flexibility of silicone piping was a big asset for me since I have an unusual setup. I had CX piping before, and it worked, but fitment was not good, and when I took it off I could see that a coupler or two was getting pretty close to rubbing through.

I have the same kit and a lot of WOT miles on it at 25psi / BNR S3 and haven't had any issues. This does pucker my anus though because my built engine was wrapped up yesterday, and the plans are 30+ PSI. I'd like to know if Jamie has confidence in this piping to hold 3.5bar pressures.

I don't experience any lag from it - honestly this phenomena probably helps performance as piping size increases with pressure / flow. It's just worrisome it may burst once I start pushing for ~550.

Flow does not exert pressure on the inside wall cavity. It is a function of pressure. Pressure =/= flow. Doesn't matter what turbo it is really it can be a K04 or a 9180 there's going to be the same amount of presssure - in this case 21psi - along the insides of the piping.

Right. So what I said, right--larger turbos flow a much greater volume of air, but still at the same pressure? I need to bone up on my fluid dynamics :) Pressure and volume are separate variables, as I understand it.

I would like to hear some input from jbr on this. I'm running 25psi on a bnr through it also. That video scares me haha

That does not look like fun. Not sure what else could be done to resolve it except metal.

I think freektune blew that section out at the drag strip.

Pretty sure he had a Cobb piping kit at the time, not positive though
