I just overlooked it, I`ve got the JBR 3 port and MAP sensor. Got my 2nd map today. It`s commanding 22psi, hitting just over 21.5 so far. Only put about 15 mile on it so the ECU may not have even learned the new map yet, but it is in fact more than it was on spring pressure. I should be able to get my WMI done tomorrow. Pretty simple install, not taking off a bumper or anything. Hardest part will be drilling and mounting the pump. Definitely not as fast as it was before on the stratified tune, but it feels much better and with 4 or 5 revisions to go I get the feeling the fun hasn`t even started yet. Hell, if I recall the max timing at WOT is only 10 degrees and we haven`t even introduced teh methanol.

You'll hit max boost instantly on a new map (even if you don't reach your actual targets) - no ECU learning required. Boost behavior is exhibited immediately, not changing over time. The only thing that'll impact it appreciably is ambient temps if your WG dynamics tables can't adequately adjust for various oxygen densities in a range of ambient conditions. It's the LTFTs that take about 50 miles to settle in doing around-town driving in lots of various load conditions/LTFT breakpoints.

BTW are you on 30- or 35- series tires? I thought you said 35 when texting, but I saw 30 in your sig... Anyways, excited to see fully dialed-in/methanol enabled results :D

Well, what should happen and what does happen are not always the same. It took six good pulls before it hit 22psi, now does it every time I lean into it. I have no desire to pick apart why. If it becomes a problem I`ll solve it, until then it`s just the way things went.

As for tires, they`re 35 series. A mistake on my part. I`ll fix/update my sig here in a minute.

Fair enough. Thx for the recommendation on "Logan" too, BTW. It was worthwhile for sure.

Onward with the diary: Installed the CM stage 2 kit today. Went smooth enough, but the controller was bad out of the box. The display looked like an old clock radio that was about to give up the ghost. After a fairly unpleasant exchange with Coolingmist (which I have come to discover is not uncommon) they`re sending me a new controller.......after I return the one I have. I`m going to overnight it tomorrow. Best case scenario I`m functional this weekend. Not gonna hedge any bets on it. She`s running well, just no meth.

Dang, sorry about the bad luck. Their customer service leaves a bit wanting, but their products are normally excellent. Hopefully you'll be spraying soon.

What kind of WHP are you seeing on your base map? I know it will improve, but I actually lost power after the install.

HP itself was about the same but torque is waaayyyyyyyy down. I lost like 90ft/lbs LOL. But I`ve seen nearly every S4 build diary go that way. People being all disappointed for the first 4 maps or so and then all of a sudden "HOLY SHIT!!!", and then "HOLY HOLY SHIT!!!". Bums me out right now because the car is sounding super sweet and more and more people are starting to get froggy. I just wave them off for now...

Yeah, they make way less torque down low compared to a K04 or even an S3, have a higher boost threshold, and slower spool, but the top-end is pretty ridiculous. It'll be very nice (and I'd like a ride, please :D)

I`ll say this about it: the car wants another thousand RPM to rev. It just never seems to run out of pull. I`m conditioned to shift when the car starts to drop off HP but even on revision 2 it just wants to keep going and going. And to think that there`s still another 80hp and 90ft/lbs in the tune just makes me salivate.

Yeah, I've heard it's top-end is pretty ridiculous. And the down-low sacrifices aren't really an issue anymore once you're full-tilt, rowing through the gears, and staying where all the power is.

I only miss the low torque in slow traffic where I'm already in 1st or 2nd gear.

Yeah, the responsiveness of S3's around town is addictive, for real. That makes them a great tracking/auto-x turbo too. It is an ideal around-town turbo with a very solid top-end. Road courses with long straights sometimes favor larger turbos. It's just like anything else: the name of the game is trade-offs: more of this for less of that.

He speaks the truth... here my are logs on the 3rd revision. This is for a stock fueling map (94oct), I have a D14 nozzle ready with 100% meth to re-start tuning with this year. This wasn't maxing out the stock injectors yet FWIW but I did have them cleaned + new SS screen installed by the injector cleaner from the "other forum". (no additional timing added for this tune, just boost)

Edit: Mods = BNRS4 (V1) , xs Power exhaust manifold, 3" exhaust, 3.5" intake, FMIC, Forged engine (targeting 19psi, 9* of timing)

Here`s on Nishan did. 93 octane tune, same mods everyone else has, 21psi. Pretty damn encouraging:

In looking at my last logs, there is an assload of timing on the table. Stratified had my timing on my previous tune at 19.5 (max) iirc. So far Justin only has me at 10 (max). There is a WORLD of torque in there. When the new methanol controller arrives it`ll be a quick 10 min install and we`ll start finding out exactly what this turbo can do.

Considering I wasn't done a tuning process at all @19si + 9* of timing, the turbo has tons more to give with additional fueling.

I want to see how much this turbo can give with a forged motor.
