    Hello,

I purchased a vehicle which has Versatuner and have the relevant Versatuner files from the owner and created a map for myself. It doesn't seem like there's any easy way of synchronizing these map files between computers.

Previously I tuned with Accesstuner Race. I have two laptops and two desktop computers. The way I organize and synchronize my map files for ATR is using a shared network drive. When I am on the road, I tune cars using one of the laptops. I have all of my copies of Accesstuner Race (MS6, 07-09 MS3, etc) pointing to save map files to the shared drive, which operates in offline mode when I am on the road. When I pull into my driveway, the laptop auto-syncs the map files to my shared drive via wi-fi. I can then edit the map files using my other computers, which is much preferred compared to using my laptop (dual screens, keyboard and mouse, that type of thing). This also synchronizes automatically to the laptop inside the car obviously when I create new files.

I am trying to figure out how to easily reproduce this system within VT. First off, unlike Accesstuner Race, I cannot find a single discrete location within Windows in which all Versatuner executable and related files are contained, so I can't simply copy the entire installation from one computer to another, which is not really that big of a deal in and of itself, but becomes a problem when Versatuner doesn't:

    1) Actually create and read from discrete map files - the only way map files can be created is via the export feature
    2) Allow the save location of the map files to be changed

It could be that I'm missing something, or there is a way to simply copy the entire VT installation to the shared drive and execute off that, which would be acceptable. What I don't want under any circumstances is for the version on the in-car laptop to be the only "live" version, as failures happen and keeping everything backed up on my shared drive (which is a RAID 1) is important to me.

Another item - is there an easy way to switch between multiple licenses using Versatuner? For example if I am tuning a colleague's car, do I have to install VT each time I want to tune or create map files for a different car?

Looking forward to using your product more. So far it is much improved compared to the last time I used it (quite some time ago) - the only problem I noticed was about a 5 second lag when copying an entire table into another table but otherwise the speed was much improved.

IIRC they are working on a protuner version which will address these concerns and have other cool shit available, but I don't know what the ETA is on that.

It's pretty old fashioned but I just email tunes to myself when I need it on another computer.

Keep all your tunes in a folder and import them to VT as needed.

Dude, that is unnecessarily arduous. I have around 250 maps for Accesstuner Race tuned cars, organized by vehicle, date, revision, fuel type...most of which are my own maps. Why should I go through all that extra effort when I don't have to?

I'm probably going to go back to using ATR for now because after I installed Versatune on my new car, the cooling fans would no longer run (yes, I used the stock VT values which tell the fans to turn on at the stock temp...I think 214 or 217°F) and my car overheated. Also, launch control and no-lift shift didn't work either. So I'm back on the stock tune for now. I really want to like Versatune and use that and support this software. I really do. But I just don't have time to deal with something that doesn't work 100% when I already have a competing product that does.

Please PM or email me steve@versatune.net for help with your concerns. The cooling fan tables don't seem to affect anything. We are analyzing the code to try to find out what else needs to be modified to get fan control. Launch control does work 100%. And, as mentioned, we are working on a way to sync databases across PCs. It's a little more challenging to sync SQL databases with proper locking than it is to sync flat files. I'm happy to help in any way I can.
