Went to the strip one final time for the season, car is away for the winter now.

Being a bit under 30°F and overcast it wasn't the nicest day but I still managed a new PB for ET and trap with 11.36@122 despite being on cold street tires, fouled plugs, and not using any NLS (because fouled plugs) which I am satisfied with. I know that on a warmer day with my radials I could definitely pull off a high 10 pass but I'll have to wait until spring to give that a shot.

God damn you low altitude racers. I have traction issues and was only able to manage a 12.721 @116mph at 5800' above sea level on street tires.

    crapatalk it sucks for free

Just got my first version printed today for a billet collector for an exhaust manifold. Still have some tweaks to make but I'm happy with how it's coming along. Not sure how soon (if ever) I'm going to have one made out of metal since machining stainless is so expensive.

would it be possible to use your 3d model to create a form/jig for welding said collector out of tube? ie hold everything in place for some tac welds and then go to town? should be cheaper

Yea that's doable. Plenty of people already make stock replacement manifolds but with the odd shape that the factory flange is it takes a lot of time to get the pipes cut at the right angles and then getting it all welded up takes a fair bit too. Normally collectors are somewhat of a pain in the ass to make but this one is even worse. This is a big time saver for a fabricator who makes these manifolds. I'm already talking with a guy who's interested so we'll see what comes of it.

Also it'd be extremely hard to get pipes to have this smooth of a contour/transition on the inside.
[doublepost=1511911257][/doublepost]Progress has been slow lately, been super swamped with school projects and tests. Did manage to get my ethanol sensor and readout working about two weeks ago. Should hopefully start tearing into things this weekend.

Goals for this weekend are clean the inside of the car, get the seats out, dash out, get the intake mani out and at least start porting it, clean the back of the engine bay and maybe start tearing off the firewall insulation. If I get all that done and don't feel super lazy I might pull the engine harness and start stripping it.

Been eyeballing Crower (not BC) stuff for my head. Can't really find much results on their grinds from any searches but they're a pretty hard price to beat and are certainly going to be better than stock. Plus their valve spring and retainer kit is only $135 so I'll probably pick up a set of those once the time comes.

Link to Crower Mitsu stuff: https://www.crower.com/media/mastercatloghtml/2017/import-camshafts/Mitsubishi/index.html?page=2

Finally got my box finished for my Defi gauge controller. It used to be zip tied up to my dash bar on the passenger side and was pretty much unusable; now it's within reach of the driver while strapped in.

Drew up some offset front LCA bushings. The Whiteline ones only gain 0.5° of caster and that's not enough IMO. I'm hoping to pick up around 1.5° with this guy. Still need to finalize some measurements, I've never made any press fit parts before so if anyone has any recommendations on how much interference I should have it'd be appreciated. Bushing will be made of aluminum.

Started digging through the jungle of wires behind my dash to thin it out and take out all that isn't being used anymore. I'm so thankful this car doesn't have a CAN system...
