I'm going to be the one. I found a better pick for a bracket that mounts to your front seat. I am going to post photos after install etc.

    It's from TheBracketeer

So I'm looking into getting a fire extinguisher myself, here's why. Had a neighbor move in a couple weeks ago with a gen 2 that had some smoking and oil consumption issues. To my understanding he replaced the turbo with a new stock one as well as upgraded the fuel pump internals and here's what happened on his test drive. Obviously installer error but damn.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

I guess there new brackets are different. I spoke to Simon in person at a car meet and he said the new brackets will require new bolts but to reuse them now, you will need to cut off the washers

Ask him if he is sell that long block. I could use it for school.

It's only 60 bucks now. Got a coupon code for not finishing the transaction for a few days (forgot to) and so it's on the way. Look for a review soon.

Think he forgot to tighten the nut on the fuel hardline?

Got the bolts, but had to get the 17mm socket and hammer it on with a dead blow hammer to get it to tighten. Lockwashers used. Very happy with the result. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Went with some 14mm flange bolts to affix the bracketeer. Fits perfectly.

You must have some long friggin legs.

You are not concerned with the extinguisher ever coming loose and lodging itself around your pedals?

Not at all. The extinguisher snaps in at the neck and the strap in the middle. It’s pretty secure. Usually my heels are on the floor anyway.

And my legs are regular length.

    holy old thread batman

This has been on my “to-do” shelf for a few months. Saw this thread on MSO and reminded me so I got it done. As noted before there is a little bolt mish mash going on but it ended up being no big deal.

Install was straight forward. I bought an Amerex 2.5 lb bottle from the local off road parts shop. Fits really well and the passenger seat has full range of movement front to back. With the seat forward you can’t see the thing at all.

Two things of note: I really wanted to go with of those Element Chemical extinguishers that we’re featured on Jay Leno’s garage a few years ago. The fact that they only release CO2 and no powder was really attractive, but for the life of me I couldn’t find anyone that has actually successfully used one. I consulted a few firefighter friends and while they liked the novelty of the Element they too had no experience with it. I then looked around for alternatives including Cold Fire Tactical but couldn’t locate any local vendors.

Second: the bracket installs one of two ways: by clamping to the seat rails and effectively sliding forward and back with the seat OR directly bolting to the two front seat mounts. The first method was preferred but wouldn’t work in our cars. The second requires either grinding down the round edges of the factory 14mm bolt or procuring new hardware. I opted for new grade 8.8 bolts with blue loctite. I was able to torque the bolts down using a thin wall 17mm socket. As for the plastic covers, you can run with out them but I just used some shears and an x-acto knife to clearance them to fit.
