Update - still waiting on my custom shift knob from @Maisonvi ... oh boy is he slow! (jk sorry Ken I love you please don't hate me)

Here's what I'm going for though knob-wise. The ST is a little tricky since it has that reverse lockout ring. -

Finished up my PD tune as well and the car is feeling wonderful. You'd never know it had a custom tune on it. Ryan did a great job too, from the first revision on the car was 100% drivable and dailyable. I'm still getting right around 30mpg on my daily commute (mostly traffic) compared to the Miata which would get around 24-25 and the MS3 getting like 12 in the same conditions.

I'm definitely still very happy with the car as is. Not sure if I want to do anything further to the car, but I do know if I do, I plan on selling my MS3 and it's parts at least 95% or so before doing anything else. In the spring though I'm excited to see how slow the car is on the 1/4 and how well I can do at AutoX. I've never done any twisty racing so I'm excited to see where I lie and how I can improve myself as a driver. After a few of those I'm tempted to do a track day at a local track. They look to be ~$350 for a day with an instructor and whatnot. This car is nice because it's just cheap to do anything in. Cheap tires, cheap gas, etc... I won't break any records but I know I'll be having fun.

    Went from salty this weekend:

I never should have made a build/not build thread... It seems I was destined to actually start modifying the car the moment a thread gets made :fearful:

That being said.... I am looking more into these resonator deletes. Reports say no interior drone but a little extra race car noises on the outside. For a nearly free mod it's tempting!

I can tell you from experience the resonator delete doesn't add any drone to the cabin at any speed. With the windows down you can hear the exhaust which is an improvement over hearing nothing on the stock set up. I have no idea why it didn't come like that from the factory.

If you're suggesting I pay $600-800 for a noisemaker, I'm going to pass. You should know you don't need a 3in until at least 300whp anyway (and at like ~185-195whp I'm pretty far from that) and 3in is reported to have a lot more drone on this platform which I don't really want. I'll stick with my $40 section of pipe and weld her in for free at my buddy's shop.

@pwdunmore it does seem like 100% of people who've deleted the resonator agree that it's the way to go. I just want to be at least somewhat audible when I drop a couple gears and pass a slow driver on the highway ;)

Velossa Tech Big Mouth intake installed! Got this brand new for a steal off some other forum... I always liked the look of them and figured why not get one. Datalogs show they actually improve a good bit with the car like lower wastegate duty cycles needed for a certain boost, lower intake temps (duh), and more. It basically just extends a pre-existing air scoop coming off the stock airbox and turns it into a ram air intake of sorts. Pretty neat how a simple $150 piece of plastic can improve so much.

Not that it's relevant to Mazda owners but if you like to see a bunch of datalogs before/after here's the LINK

For intercooler if I hypothetically possibly purchase one I'm feeling the Whoosh one. It's only $350 and the owner of Whoosh, Ron, is an ex-MazdaSpeed guy and crazy helpful to the community.
