I couldn't deal with that. I'd end up just sending it into a wall from frustration.

Look at that shiny and new fender liner! Until I hit the next groundhog at 60 at least.

Went to clean the valves today. 100k and the first time I’ve done this and the valves really don’t look a 1/4 bad as I thought they would.

Those don't look nearly as bad as I've seen from other people doing them with less miles. I have yet to to do mine, 89k+

Yeah I don’t know then. Using Rotella, E85 mix and an OCC the last 20k. Italian tune ups daily as well.

How do you like the quickjack? I think that's gonna be one of my near term purchases.

Mine at 185k km... EGR delete and OCC added around 140k km. Bought the car used. They are much shinier now though after getting the valves lapped. One pick shows before and after of the runners. [IMG][IMG]

She’s out! Time to mount it in the other car, call it a day, and finish tomorrow.

And she’s in under her own power. On that note, goodnight! [IMG]

Impressive progress! And here I've been feeling mighty accomplished for getting an a/c compressor swap done this afternoon.

While making an almost 4hr trip in my '97 BMW 540i we hit some slow highway traffic, and next thing you know my hood is steaming pulled over, don't think I've ever turned the car off that fast, popped the hood and coolant is just going straight up like a fountain from the rad...

Got the car towed to the inlaws $600 later as I was only an hour from them at this point, assed the damage it's the nipple that goes to the overflow tank. Found the part number this is 9pm now everything is closed.

call the dealership first thing, part is $7 back ordered from Germany with no eta, soonest they can have a new thermostat for me is Tuesday.

Go out to the garage this morning to a pool of oil under the car FML
Jacked the car up I believe it's leaking from the oil pan gasket and for some reason there's 2 bolts missing from the oil pan

Go to the wreckers managed to mind a 2000 528i which has the same rad pulled the part and paid $6 for it. Might be going back to the wreckers to pull some oil pan screws if the dealership can't get me any.

Hopefully it's just the oil pan gasket and not the head gasket but we all know I probably won't be that lucky

Taking the train home tomorrow because the lady has a few shifts this week (part time work can't afford not to work).

I am beat! Tomorrow she'll be read to crank over!

It's a nice investment. Clearance is only about 18 inches, so still a pain when doing anything under the car. I wanted a 2 post lift but my garage isn't tall enough with the door rolling overhead.

Engine electrical mostly done, clutch slave swap done, OCC done... time to put the axles in, hook up the alternator, and put in some unicorn jizz and RBF 600. All that’s left after that is the coolant and power steering hoses. She’ll be ready to fire today.

Ok! Engine swap done! She’s wired up and hoses are connected, all bolts torqued all around, filled up with oils. Just needs a battery box and and air filter put on, bumper reattached, coolant, power steering and brake fluids, wheels and she’s ready to fire up and roll. Had to end early today, but we had a pretty smooth operation.

Just a minor update on Matt’s engine swap we did over the weekend. The bad girl is now officially a 2008.5 Mazdaspeed 3 and has a name. Her name is “Frankenspeed,” as it now has parts donated from 3 different cars. We flushed the brake lines, bled the clutch, filled and bled power steering, filled up with coolant, primed all the systems, and replaced a few bad fuses. She fired right up and purred like a kitten. Transplant successful!

Got the Bimmer running! The oil leak was from the oil pan gasket, previous owner used a corkboard as a gasket...so after 3 new bolts in the oil pan and lots of time cleaning off the cork it was replaced with the actual OEM gasket which was only $45CAD so I don't know why someone would spend the time to make one out of cork...
New thermostat is also in no leaks, compression test tonight and we should be good to go!

Cork gaskets in 2018? Even spray gaskets are better than that shit!
