It's been a while, but it's time for an update!

So, after finding out that I didn't have a CS intake manifold locked down I started looking around for other options. I ended up finding a car for sale in a Facebook group and noticed that he had a CS manifold on the car. I decided to message the guy and ask if he was entertaining a partout or not and to my surprise he'd just started the partout, but there was a catch... a buddy had dibs on the manifold. He gave the guy a week or so to come up with the money, but the guy ended up backing out of the deal, so I got my CS manifold after all! With the saved money I bought the CS hood scoop that he had (rice) and I'm gonna be color matching that to my hood rather than having the ricey carbon fiber. I've also got some stuff at the powdercoating shop right now. $120 to powdercoat my intake mani, fuel rail, intake pieces, and battery tray. That includes sandblasting, since all of them had some sort of coating on them before, so I got a pretty smokin' deal.

We were having some issues with the pulley for my crank keying and ended up having to get a new one machined to match it. Still waiting on that and the shift forks and I should be good to go. Fuel lines are all finished up and looking good, but Chris is adding a couple fittings for my ethanol sensor to tie into everything.

One other thing that I'm gonna have some issues with, is I was planning on using an O2 extender to fix my cat codes. Apparently those don't work on genpus... So I've got to figure out a fix for the cat code with some sort of resistor or something (I've heard bad things about modifying O2 sensor wires) or I've got to find out a way to fake out the EGR with a solution similar to the VTCS relay fix. If anybody has any input for that, I'd really appreciate it.

Man that's janky as hell, but looks like exactly what I'll need. I'm pretty sure I had the EGR cables chopped out of my harness when I had it tucked, but I think I might be able to finagle something.

    Thanks for the link!

    It begins:

    A little cleaning

    After:

Got the nice new brass shift forks done for some peace of mind, even though the stock plastic ones looked pretty good still.

Also a nice little bonus, I got some other things for the engine bay powdercoated (CS Mani, Intake, 51r battery tray, and fuel rail). Don't mind the nasty weld on the intake, it was done for free... shittily.

Did you buy complete forks with brass pads attached already, or did you assemble them yourself?

I just had Chris at Speed Solutions do the install. Sent the trans in with the motor, so he took the old pads off and assembled them.

It's done! Chris at Speed Solutions is going to be shipping it out tomorrow and it's a 4 day ETA on shipping, so I'm hoping to have some big updates next week!

I also decided to clean up my headlights now that I'm getting the itch to work on the car again

I also ended up swinging by FullRace to pick up a shorty WGA for the 7163. The standard WGA used a bracket that caused the WGA to bump into the firewall just a bit. This shorter one and it's bracket end up fitting better and should have very similar fitment to the 6758 that I had previously.

I'm cleaning up all of the other parts that are going into the engine bay now. The harness is all pretty and most of the stuff is cleaned up, but I'm going to be grabbing some new nicer heater hose and stuff to use for my catchcan setup. I also made a new bracket for both of my cans.

Things are starting to come together!

    The calm before the storm...

Motor and everything else is in town at the freight place and I'll be picking it all up tomorrow. In the mean time I've been wrapping up some stuff in the garage.

First off I painted the CS scoop I got on the cheap. I'm prolly gonna have somebody redo this since I'm a perfectionist and I just don't like the way it turned out. It's not too bad, but it's gonna be right at the front of the car, so it has to look real purdy:

Second, I tore out all of the front end suspension shit in preparation for the new koni yellow + eibach setup. My bumpstops and everything else were destroyed. I got new tophats and bearings, but for whatever reason opted not to buy the new bumpstops at the time... So they're on the way now. New JBR front sway bar is in too. Removing that stock one even with the engine out was a real pain in the ass. To get the fatter JBR one in I had to unbolt the steering rack and the passenger side of the subframe to finally get it in place. That poor shiny finish is gone now :(

Third, fixed up the janky catch can bracket for my dual can setup. Ugly, but it works.

    Last, but not least...

Opening up the flow on the CPE TMIC to see what I can get out of this thing. The core is theoretically good for about 750cfm, but the main bottleneck was the 2" inlet, which would only allow for ~560cfm (about 370hp worth of air). Since the outlet is 2.75" and the core could flow up to ~750cfm, the it seemed like the only real solution was to increase the size of that inlet. Bumped it up to 2.5", which should be good for around 870cfm or so. Time will tell how much this actually helps, but I'm hoping this will get me to where I want to be power-wise. This build is gonna flow some air!

Expect lots of pictures and things tomorrow or the next day. Lots of stuff will be going on tomorrow for sure!

Interested as well in the modified top mount.

I'm about to rip out my treadstone kit and set the fucking thing on fire.

So I got the motor all mounted up with the help of a buddy today. Decided to test out the ol' Chinese Go-Pro while we were doing it:

After we got that mounted up I started cleaning some final shit up and getting some stuff bolted on:

Pictures really don't do this color justice. It's beautiful, super similar to VRM.

These intake ports still make me moist

This is exactly the life I'm trying to avoid lol. If I can get some decent power out of this I will be perfectly content with TMIC. Time will tell.

I'll keep adding as I make progress. I'm doing this all after work, so there will be little updates here and there.

    Some updates:

I've got most of the stuff bolted on and plugged in now. I still need to wire up my new amp and my ethanol sensor, so that'll probably be next.

Now that I'm finally getting close I can show off some of my special goodies. Here is the Speed Solutions TMIC PI Coldpipe:

I'll post up some more pictures of this when I get my ethanol sensor/fuel lines all hooked up.

Tuning the Split Second controller will be a first for me, but it seems like it's all pretty straightforward. There's gonna be a lot of changes with this build, so I hope I don't lose the DD-ability of the car as well haha. Hopefully some BIG updates this weekend.

It's the original one from the MS6 that's all one piece. The outlet is 2.75", but it's shaped kinda wierd, so I'm not sure what the smallest point would be. Should be enough for what I'm looking to make though.

Yep local race shop did the chop/welding. We'll see how much this thing can actually flow.
