You do know you didnt need to rekey the pully! The wheel with the timing teeth is pressed on. I popped mine off with a flat head screwdriver and rotated it since my keying was a few teeth off. I did it while it was on the motor.

I didn’t rekey the pulley, I keyed a second one. I wanted it done right, and I had a second pulley. :p

[doublepost=1537331679][/doublepost]The South Bend clutch is already breaking in after only like 20 Miles. It’s WAY easier to push the pedal in, but it’s still an extremely low release point. I guess they are just super stiff when they are new. Figured I’d add that bit. Got about 20 Miles on her now and she’s running great! Here is the log of the maiden voyage if anyone is bored and wants to analyze data. It's a big one and I haven't even looked at all of it, but from what I saw so far, fuel trims are excellent and everything looks pretty awesome. She's running smoother and smoother with every mile.

Yeah my SB was the same, it broke in a lot. Also, not that I'm an expert but I had a brief look at the log and it is pretty much thoroughly uninteresting, which means nothing looks rong so nice work.

I was worried about a really bad rattling sound I was having as soon as I hit 3,000 RPM. I thought I had something wrong with the valvetrain. Turns out it was my Bosch windshield wiper blades. lol WTB new shock proof wiper blades!

PIAA silicone, there are three different types. Supposed to last twice as long, and the rubber part is separately replaceable.

Took the ol’ girl to 5,000 RPM for the first time. She liked it... and it felt good! I got a new DRL relay and it turns out that’s not what’s blowing my fog light fuses. So, it appears I’m going to be probing and checking electrical wires. I hate electrical! :/

Edit: Also took it to get my alignment checked, but the lazy pieces of shit at Firestone were like “I know you paid for a lifetime alignment, and I know your camber arms only require 1 bolt to adjust, but we have to take your wheels off to adjust it so we have to charge you $75.” What kinda shit is that? lol

Just did 50 mile oil change. The smell of gas in the oil is nowhere near as bad as the first break in oil change, so the rings are seating! Also did a compression test... all 4 cylinders are rising! Things are looking good!

I have a lifetime alignment also, but I tell them only to adjust toe. I specifically tell them not to fuck with anything else, even then you would be surprised at the dumb shot you can catch them doing.

Firestone told me they couldn't even get my car in the rack when I got my new tires from them and wanted an alignment at the same time. They didn't say boo until they found out about my adjustable camber arms, then all of a sudden started telling me that "oh well with that tire width at your ride height we won't be able to get it to fit." Riiiiiiiight.

Yeah. I have to go to one specific Firestone because it’s the only one that has a lift that is capable of handling normal passenger vehicles that have even the slightest bit of lowering. It seems most Firestones are only equipped with monster truck lifts. [emoji849]

Well that settles it, I'd considered doing Firestone lifetime, if they're that kind of dicks about screw 'em. I also get the idea that the people would never be the same over time... there was a knowledgeable manager when I went to the local one the first time. He's never been there again and the new people all seem like idiots.

    Rut roh...

Just developed a tick that seems to be coming from the valvetrain after her first trip up to 6k RPM. It was fine all the way up and back down. It only started ticking after I parked it.

Well, she survived the trip to Indy for Epic Nator Central Meet. We dissected the oil filter and changed the oil, minimal flake. Decided to send it for a day of autocross with the boys and girls of the Mazda community. She performed a whole lot better than I did and had power all the way up to the rev limiter. Only issue I had was she popped out of second gear twice on a corner. The return trip home she felt great until she blew a hose clean off the intercooler, but easy fix. She’s still ticking away, but that could actually be a tiny exhaust leak, as I was eating exhaust fumes in the cabin on the whole ride home, so I’ll check on it this weekend. I also thoroughly destroyed what was left of the ball joint on the driver side LCA. But man this girl has some power and she’s not even tuned yet. I can’t wait to see what she’ll put out once I get the aux fuel systems hooked up and get dyno tuned!

if you want to find the tick get a long screwdriver and stick it to your ear and start poking around. Is the tick only at idle or does it rattle ect at certain rpm under light throttle 2k 2.5k 3k.

It’s hard to say how high up the RPM range it goes, because my car is so freaking loud you can’t hear anything beyond 3000 RPMs, but it definitely ticks with the RPM.

If you slowly accelerate next to a jersey barrier or a alleyway wall you can hear it better. Im assuming that the car was warm in the video. It has that lawn mower sound when a exhaust mani leaks so hopefully its just a leak. The fastest way i found my exhaust leaks when i was chasing a maxed trim issue was to tape the blowing end of a shop vac to the tail pipe and plug my other exhaust tip. Then spray soapy water on everything. I was amazed on how well it found even the tiniest leaks. My 02, the bolt in the optional o2 bung and my wastegate v band seal were all leaking.

All I can hear inside the car is buzzing and vibrating from every piece of plastic trim, body panel, and the resonant sub bass frequency of the cabin itself pounding on my eardrums from the solid mounts lol.

Whelp, I figured out ONE of my problems... lol
As for the ticking, it's either an exhaust valve or a tiny manifold leak. I didn't really have time this weekend to fully diagnose it, but it's very possibly related to the broken plug, since the noise seems to be coming from the exhaust side of cylinder 2 and that's where the broken plug was.
[doublepost=1538947605][/doublepost]Oh, and I changed the oil again and made the switch to 5w40 full synthetic. No flake in the oil and everything was clean.

Well, she’s still ticking away, but it hasn’t gotten any louder. I think it’s just a loud valve train component. She also survived a pull over 7,000 RPM at 20PSI and the noise actually got quieter momentarily before returning. I assume that’s just from the oil being tossed all over the place. Man this thing rips, and the turbo spools SUPER quick. I am full boost by 3,000 RPM. The vibes have also substantially subsided, but they are still ridiculous. I still have to ride with the windows cracked and my dash, pillar trims, sun visors, and sunglasses holder still buzz at varying RPMs. Rear view mirror useless and my damn wiper blades rattle horribly. Oh, well.

Any concerns with the tri-metal bearings?
