Also, when assembling. Measure everything! Lol

I have a bunch of precision measuring equipment. Dial Bore indicator. Depth indicators. Micrometers, spring pressure indicators. Etc. Etc. As I was on a venture to start doing builds myself. Been over a year now and my first build (not the one in my car) for a "customer" to get me started still hasnt made it's way into the car so I scrapped those plans.

If you want to use or borrow any of it lmk and I can ship them out to you.

    Update

The motor is out !!! Was able to get the motor out yesterday with @deldran help. Was pretty much problem free. Just had to unhook a few bits here and there. I used @CMajor idea to make a tool to pull the axle and it worked well on the passenger side. Passenger side axle pretty much fell out of the hub and had antisieze on it so it was likely done before. I was still unable to get the driver side out of the knuckle so I just cut the boot and ripped it in half. I bought a 20 ton press and will go to town on it. It is not nearly as rusty as I thought it would be in the bay which is nice.

Forgot to add the shop press. Will take pics when assembled, it is very very heavy.

    Some minor updates.

I fixed the WG and @CorkSport - Derrick hooked me up with a new nipple "giggity". Thanks Derrick :)

Getting the studs out of my CS turbo was a shit show, I am not sure why. You think that would just be easy peasy but it was a mess. I ended up having one just spin in there. I was able to get it out by using a bolt on the back side to add pressure then turn it with vice grips. I chased all the threads to make sure the next owner does not have to deal with this. The Edge studs seem to have less of an issue than the ones that came with the CS kit. That was 2 hours of my life I will never get back.

I spent some more time tearing the motor down. My kid was home sick and when he took a nap I got to do a little work. Next will be the trans then I can start taking the long block apart.

Per @Sho I will be running hose instead of a hardline due to the 5862 not needing water cooling. I blocked off the EGR and the hose with a fancy bolt lol. I bought those and bard to replace the hard line. It's 3/4 to the oil cooler I believe then 5/8 to the firewall but I will check it all out when I am doing it, this is what he said to get so I did. I bought 4 feet of each size of the hose from farm and fleet.

Not sure if that bolt is too small and will leak , it went in snug so we will see. Easy fix if it leaks. IT DID LEAK, I ENDED UP USING A BARBED FITTING WITH A CAP ON IT.

I have been using this thread paste for over year on the previous setup with no issues so I used it again.

That's all for now. Hoping to get the trans off this weekend but who knows.

if you want, I can make you an EGR delete plate with no hole for the hose. Less chance for leaks.

I'll let you know, I'm going to risk it on this guy as the rest of sealed well and I don't want to remove it. Thanks for the offer.

@JohnnyTightlips can you let me know if those hoses combo work well? I need to do that too as the hardline is touching the coupler on my BW turbo.

Me too since I will most likely be getting the 257 as well. I will be top mounted so probably won’t have the same issue tho right?

The hose combo works. It's literally what everyone with a non watercooled turbo has been running since 2012. Dunno why anyone would even question it lol

Thanks Sho.. I think I am also going to run a bw 257sxe. Seems to a decent turbo. I just want to know what spool rpm to expect. @KiwiFlavor what boost/rpm do you hit? I’ll be aiming for 30psi to probaby hit my goals.

Stop worrying about where the turbo spools. I'll share something my tuner shared many years ago, and it makes sense once you actually think about it

Eh, that car was on a stock block and he didn't drive it long enough to mean anything. Don't base your opinion off some bullshit YouTube channel that's there for clicks

I mean, Ken found out that his hoses were different sizes per our chat. Hence why i asked for the confirmation.

    Lol @ spooled up performance.

You're supposed to chop that line where it turns from a 3/4 soft line to the hard line. Run a 3/4 to 5/8 brass barbed union. And run a 5/8 heater hose straight to the firewall to avoid all the line that would go to a watercooled turbo and egr.
