I was busy staring at the manifold flange that broke clean off.

Got some more shit done last night and this afternoon. Got the new exhaust manifold cleaned up and installed along with the crossover pipe, safety wired the exhaust butterfly open since it wasn't opening when the engine heated up, removed the old radio and speaker along with the hack job harness someone put in, and replaced the rubber shifter grommets at the bottom of the column.

Now I get to chase down a fuse that blew when I got back to the house.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I'm an idiot...turns out I didnt blow a fuse, I just never tightened the bolt holding the negative battery cable down all the way and it finally rattled loose enough to break ground.

However with this sticker I'm sure the old girl is back to her factory horsepower rating...[IMG]

I have a friend that has a 69 GMC with a 396 in it like 450hp and it's fucking scary to have that much power in something that was barely intended to be used on the highway. Too much power and you end up in a money pit chasing the brakes suspension and chassis to try and balance it out.

    Keep it simple stupid

I knew a guy who supercharged a big block 454 and neglected to upgrade the brakes. Drums all around make for a fun time!

This thing is way too nice to be a Roadkill truck haha. And yea crazy power would be tricky to manage since unlike the non-torsion bar chevys, theres not alot of aftermarket suspension options unless you wanna spend money for something custom or a made to order setup. Power brakes and a front disc conversion along with power steering are gonna happen all in good time.

My brother has a 71 Chevy with a 502 that straight roasts tires but obviously its super front heavy. Its only saving grace is that its a long bed so the ass doesnt kick out super fast.

Started pulling the passenger side head today. The front cylinder has no compression. Gotta go to o'rileys tomorrow and get a pry bar because that head is stuck solid. Of course I found other shit that needs replaced too...[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

How much would a crate 302 or 351 cost to just drop into that thing?

With all that rust in the cooling system, I cant imagine that iron block would be any good even if you do hot tank the whole friggin thing.

Depends where I wanna go. Blueprint has 302-427ci widsor motors that'll drop in. My issue is that theyre all 60° V8s and they'll look tiny in that engine bay. My ultimate plan is to stroke the 292 to 312 and run aluminum heads and a 4bbl carb. Should put me around 350, but that's over double the power of the stock setup
