Saw a YouTube vid where a guy removes the hopper and drilled the holes out a tiny bit. If it doesn’t play nice I may just do that.

I used the HF media blaster with the separate big reserve tank. All you have to do is make sure the line doesnt kink, your air pressure is high and not leaking, and that the reserve is sitting slightly tilted to allow the media to go into the feed drain.

All harbor freight crap requires mods before it can get the job done. i drilled mine out a bit. The only thing from HF i didn't modify and still works is the steel lp floor jack.

PS - anyone thinking of doing this but not certain if they wanna take the 5-10 min to cover the engine bay and tape it down...don’t think twice. Do it.

I’ve seen a few vids on YouTube where they just wanna use ship rags to catch shit when blowing it out or even using walnuts.

You can buy thick plastic drop sheets at Menards for $3 and have enough to cover 3 engine bays.

    See here:

85k miles on my '12 and all I've ever done for the valves is the BG GDI cleaning service at a local shop every 20k. The service blows a PEA-based fluid through the brake booster line to hit the back of the valves. I haven't had the IM off, but the car runs flawlessly and pulls hard.

I never noticed any issue with my power or anything. But over time it has probably dwindled a bit. I guess we will see in a few weeks when it’s all back together if I can tell a diff.

Pretty sure there's more to that multi-step, multi-part process than jamming it through the break booster. Definitely worth taking your manifold off to take a peek.

That being said, now that valves are clean...is there a method I could use (such as that CCR GDI cleaner method) to try to mitigate build up? I know there’s no way to stop it other than adding port injection.

Spraying 100% meth, disabling your EGR system, and adding a catch can is pretty much all the mitigation you can do instead of going PI. I sprayed 50/50 meth/water mix, had no EGR, dual cans and I still had build up eventually.

Son of a...isn’t going PI about $1000 investment? Saw a few vids on it and thought that’s what I heard. Worth it? Hmmm

You could luck out and find a used 5th or 6th port kit for cheap. Having valve soot build up isn't the end of the world and unless you're shooting for more power, I wouldn't invest in PI as a valve cleaning solution.

Point taken. I guess dirty valves are just the cost of doing business when it comes to DIZI. I better store my custom vac with tube tool I made this past weekend :)

I’d love to see the valves. Just seeing the uneven build up on my valves Twas crazy. I couldn’t image any cleaner flowing evenly over the valves thru a vacuum hose.

Cleaning valves is one of those jobs when you do it your like why didn’t I do it sooner.

Pi costs a little less. You can her a adapter plate with siemens injectors and a ss controller for a reasonable amount. Maby 500ish. Pi wont clean the valves like you think.the majority of the time pi wont be spraying. It only sprays at wot. TBH it sprays as much as a meth kit.

Ended up using this tool to suck the B-12 out of the ports before cleaning. It was not 100% efficient but got the majority of it to see my vac.

Also due to the carbon chunks it ended up being a sacrificial tool. At $7 I didn’t mind but still hate to waste tools.

I'd love to see someone manage to put together a PI setup for $500ish without getting parts for basically free. The cheapest manifold adapter I can think of is $350, SS is $300, injectors, itfp, fittings and hose, tune...

and i guess you have never bought used stuff before. i got my dekas fo 50 bucks new off of ebay.... i bought my an adapters new and my ss adapter used. i bought the pi adapter for 350. 150 for the ss and 50 for the injectors. maby 100 for fittings and hose. so i guess your right. it cost me 650 for pi not MABY 500...ish!!

lol on counting the tune for pi you might as well count all the supporting mods while you are at it like a intake, dp, turbo, fp, gauges, tires and intercooler ect...

No itfp? (Smart.) How much was that SS harness? I doubt you got an SS itself for $150, but okay.

You tune it yourself? That's an integral piece of the puzzle, after all. If you're pricing the cost to add PI to an existing non-PI setup, how can you exclude that expense?

Sounds like you still buthurt from the cross dressing thread disliking posts.
Port injection is not all incompasing .
    your a moron btw.
So since you a expert how much was YOUR PORT INJECTION setup. I mean you do have one right since your a expert on it.
Keep adding usless info to the thread regarding cleaning valves . Not like it was the op or anything..
According to sharksinspace you are wrong. There is no such thing as used cheap ss controlers or hardware.
