Anyone have any experience with using ebay parts? Im looking at a FMIC, exhaust manifold, and possibly a downpipe.

Lol broken welds will happen, and fitment issues with the piping will happen for sure.

That IC (assuming its the same as the CX one, which it likely is) is less efficient than the oem. I had one way back in the day, and it was not an upgrade at all. The piping from the kit I had back then worked fine, but the core was a paperweight. So assuming the piping fits, unless you add a better IC all you are doing is adding lag to your system.

This! Save your money and do it right the first time with trusted parts. Don't waste your money on eBay cheap POS that'll break and cost you more money. I think we can agree that we're happy to see OP asking vs some of the current "man I bought these parts they're so gud will follow up" followed by "oh shit I fucked my engine" threads that are around.

Fair enough! Only way to learn is ask. I'll admit I've still got a whole lot to learn but there is some really good information out there and some really knowledgeable people on this forum.

Make sure you have upgraded hpfp before you start adding any power mods.

Yeah thats going to be the first mod. It has a cp-e cold air intake on it already. But other than that and coilovers, I dont know what the previous owners did to it already. So I'm going to assume its all stock.

You can max out the ko4 without needing ex mani or fmic. FMIC will help keep bats low during the summer so easier power. Hard intake "HTP 3.5" with e30 tune HPFP and downpipe will give you as much as the ko4 can do. Even with a bigger turbo such as CST4 I was making some jam on OEM TMIC, HPFP , Ebay DP, HTP 3.5 Intake. You really don't need much more than that to max out stock block and clutch. BTW The ebay knock off of the GFB response is pretty solid if you want more choo choo sounds.

It already has the choo choo sounds aplenty. I was thinking about doing a full flex fuel conversion, since e85 is readily available in my area. We also have 90 octane full gas not blended with ethanol. But not sure it would be good to try or not. [IMG]

e30 is More than enough for stock motor and once you start going pass that you have to worry about the spill valve getting black death. You will get all the timing/boost you need to max out the ko4, The other issue you start to run into running Ethanol is fueling headroom. It takes more fuel and the stock HPFP can only do so much. That is why everyone goes to a PI setup to compliment the DI. You need to decide on the power you are looking for and make decisions based on that. This platform has a lot of years on it and pretty much everything has been explored. I am all for people doing wild and crazy things but you can def find most of it already done using the googles.

Don't bother with ethanol free gas... total waste with zero benefits and costs more probably. It's designed for boats or equipment that sits around a lot like lawn mowers, trimmers etc.

On a positive note, the eBay dp does just fine but may not line up perfectly with the exhaust. I had have my exhaust modified to fit properly with the eBay dp. Many others didn't have this issue but for under $100 I'd do it again.

Power on a budget is ebay dp, 3 or 3.5" intake, and e30. Stock tmic is fine with ethanol mix

It has a 3" cp-e COI already. Not sure if the hpfp was replaced already, but I plan on getting the cork sport hpfp.

Good man! My buddy got a surprise when he bought his and went to do it, had upgrades in it, maybe you'll get lucky. Only way to know is open it up. His weren't CS or auto Tech so he replaced them anyway.

If you do get lucky and they're CS or auto Tech your can give them a nice clean with some gasoline then put them back in. Assuming no scoring noted. Or for piece of mind just toss the new ones in, completely up to you.
