I was a couple months away from having a kid and needed something more "reliable" than my 2 door 91 blazer that was falling apart and I didn't have the money for parts or time to fix (needed basically an entire drivetrain swap engine to diff)

I started looking for cars in the beginning of 2019, found and looked at some speed 3's gen 1 and 2 (some slightly modded some stock) they where fun and I loved the way the cars acted, felt, and sounded, but wasn't satisfied with the FWD aspect, coming from only ever owning something that was RWD(lowered square body blazers and Miatas)
I really wanted a speed 3 but prices where high and so where the miles on my options at the time, along side that i felt like I wouldn't be satisfied and still wanted more.

So I started looking for an infamous Speed6, to my luck I found 2 candidates, one on craigslist with about 120k stock motor slightly and tastefully modded (APV3,intake,hpfp,fmic,downpipe,and magnaflow exhaust), guy was selling for 7k, I was excited and called my bank and set up a time to try to get a personal loan to go buy the car, did that a couple days later and no dice, didn't get approved for the loan, I had little to no credit at the time and no one was willing to cosign or help me out so I was on my own.

The second Speed6 I found had about 145k completely stock and unmolested, it was at an Acura dealership about 45 minutes away they wanted 8k for it(it was still relatively affordable to me), I called them and made sure they still had the car so I could look at the car and test drive it.
It was still there, but someone was test driving it and trying to get a loan approved, I knew I had to hurry, I made arrangements to get to the dealer to look at and test drive the car after I got off work.

I get to the dealership and the car is nowhere in sight I'm worried it's gone at this point, so I find the salesman I talked to earlier in the day he grabs the car and brings it around, I'm drooling already just looking at this beautiful car, being this excited I didn't do any real preliminary checks before my test drive, I get in and start it up, timing chain is making noise on start up, goes away after a moment, gas light is on, I say fuck it and off we go, test drive goes okay car feels pretty good, nothing obviously wrong, didn't get to test much of anything with no gas being in the tank and me not wanting to lean the car out.
Get back to the dealer and do paperwork, got approved, signed my life away and double checked the car over while waiting on my copies of the paperwork.
This is when I found out that the oil in the car is low and not showing up on the dipstick,
I got a little heated at this point, and made the salesman go get me oil (this may have been what saved me a lot of hassle later on when I went ZZB) so I can top the car off before driving it 45 minutes back home, the car was 2 quarts low on oil, no smoking turbo so I wasn't terribly concerned.

The next day I took the car to work very happy with my new purchase, I did an oil change on the car just so I had piece of mind that everything was fresh, upon pulling the oil filter out it was black and smelled of gas, as did the oil, at this point I could tell the dealership had not done an oil change on the car like they had claimed on the carfax report I had received from them.

Fast forward to my son being born, he had to be put into the NICU due to a heart condition he was born with, so my girlfriend and I had to go back and forth to the hospital constantly for awhile, one night on our way home we where in Mexico and I decided to get on it in 4th to see what she really had, revs went up car started to pull hard and then all of the sudden everything got quite and the motor just shut off and lost oil pressure, pulled over and tried to turn the motor over, got nothing but clicks, no dice she was done. The rod in Cylinder 4 decided to say hello to the outside world.

Son is good and healthy, warranty covered a motor without much effort on my end due to me explaining to the warranty company what a shitshow the "5 star" dealership put me through, and paperwork to prove things had and had not happened.

Dealer claimed on carfax they did an oil change on the car prior to me purchaseing it, I proved they did not, warranty company came through.

Got the car back after about a month waiting on a motor and me ordering and providing the extra parts needed to get the car back together

I got my hands on a fidanzda and sprung 6 puck clutch and various other non warranty covered parts.

Dealer broke a bunch of little things in the process of putting things back together so the car ran like ass when I picked it back up, I've been fixing it myself ever since

Initially getting the car home, I had to figure out how to get the hood open cause they didn't plumb the line correctly and it was also broken, got that open immediately noticing the rats nest of wiring they left me, main harness that runs along the coolant res was basically resting on the intake manifold the entire drive home, and could have easily melted needless to say I was pissed off.

Basically everything was a mess and nothing was tightened properly to say the least. I've been chasing the problems they left me on the new motor ever since.

I've done the timing chain myself as they reused the old parts from the old motor,
Cleaned everything up engine bay wise.

Next week I plan on finally swapping out my tired 166k k04 for an 80k k04 882 off a genpu

All I can say is do the timing chain. IMHO use factory parts, or at bare minimum updated factory intake cam gear and chain tensioner.

Hey dude I know you dont wanna hear this but take it back to the dealer and have their tech fix what they messed up.

You arent liable for the stuff they broke or left loose. If you mess with it and fix stuff then they can decline covering it later. I work at a dealer and I know how they do things. You have every right to have the car fixed to 100 percent operating condition as it was before they worked on it and if the tech did not notate on the RO that X was broken Y missing etc then it is the responsibility of the dealer/repair facility to correct it.

Take lots and lots of photos. You'll need this to show the service manager/director and for the possibility of court (if it ever gets that far.) The tech will complain and claim they just left it how it was but if they didnt do a UCI on the vehicle or change the oil which you stated before they didnt, then they are in a big mess of liability.

This was all last year, it's all done and over with now, I'm a mechanic myself so I knew how and was comfortable fixing all the broken shit myself.

Management at the dealership was basically just sketchy the entire time and gave me the run around, and didn't want to hear any of it, and didnt even care when I sent them pictures of everything, the most I got was "we will have to send the tech back to training" and "we're sorry this has happened"

So I straight up told them fuck you and your business, you're never touching the car again, I'll fix the shit myself.

Holy shit man if that were my dealership that wouldn't fly. Send the tech back to training? Seriously? That doesn't remedy the issue. I'm glad you got it worked out but damn that's some bull shit.

It shouldn't fly at any dealership anywhere period, after i got that response I was livid and knew they didnt give a shit and just wanted me gone.
But in the end I got it all sorted, luckily I did my research beforehand on these cars being notorious for high milage motors throwing rods.
but I ended up taking them for a ride on it, just like the ride they took me on financing it.

I've replaced everything that needed to be addressed already and I've been building her up ever since.
Needless to say the first 6 months of owning this particular speed6 was a temperamental nightmare of tracking down parts
