Corksport released for the MS3 two 3.5” exhaust options. One is a complete 3.5” turbo-back exhaust. And the other is a 3.5” to 3.0” downpipe. A Corksport representative confirmed that they plan to release both options for the MS6 as well! He said it was okay that I mention this publically on MSO, but that I can’t tie him down to a delivery date. He said that it is a matter of production and can’t promise when they would be available, I said “two weeks, right?”

Now for some reason, Corksport is married to the 5 bolt flange, so, for someone not running a CS turbo, it might not be so useful. However, it is modular, with the 5-bolt head section being like less than a foot long I think, with a v-band flange. So, at least possibly, a different head section for different turbos could be fabricated. An idea anyway.

At least CS is still releasing MS6 parts which is cool. So, when it is released, I will go ahead and get it and hope I can get the adapter piece made. If I can’t get it to work, I guess I’ll have more unused car crap in my garage…

I would pose this question, why does Precision or Tial not make an adapter to fit the CorkSport exhausts?

Hi Derrick! First, thanks for continuing to support the Mazdaspeed community, and especially the MS6 platform that other Mazda products vendors have abandoned. And as you can see from my signature, or my account on CS, I have a lot of CS parts and you are a great company. That said, your response here, is, well, not particularly good if I understand you correctly. (If I'm misreading what you are saying, apologies in advance.)

    1. I doubt it would even work if somebody tried. If somebody made a v-band to 5-bolt adapter, would it actually work with your 5-bolt downpipes, or would the thickness of the adapter move the downpipe enough to not really fit well? I suspect the latter.
    2. CorkSport already does support Tial and Precision turbos on the engine side, with your exhaust manifold's modular design and Tial and Precision options for your manifold. It is a bit odd for you to support Tial and Precision on one side of the turbo, and then appear to thumb your nose at the idea of supporting them on the other side.
    3. I think Corksport is in the business of selling product and it seems obvious that you could sell more downpipes and exhausts if you supported more turbos. And in fact, you're making your new 3.5" exhausts modular is BRILLIANT, and seemingly should work very well for being able to customize the exhaust for different turbos. Just like your BRILLIANT modular manifold does.
    4. Like it or not, Precision, Tial, Garrett are industry standards. Corksport is a great little company and as far as I know your turbos are pretty good. I have no knock against your turbos. But there just is a category difference between an industry standard vendor like Precision and a boutique vendor like Corksport. Due to that category difference, you supporting industry standards is expected. And you even do so already with your manifold. But it is just silly to propose that Precision or Tial should be thinking, "okay, now how do we make this compatible with Corksport?"

I hope I haven't annoyed you too much. You have a stack of my cash and I've left mostly 5* reviews on your site for the products I've bought. I still will buy your 3.5" downpipe for the MS6 when available. And I am resigned to the fact that I will have to figure out how to make it work myself. But it sure would be much nicer if you just made the modular connection from Tial, Precision, Garrett to your downpipe. But I think I'm fighting a lost cause.

Thanks again for supporting the Mazdaspeed community!

The real answer for what you brought up about the downpipes instead of me being saucy/spicey/salty.

The mold work to get the flanges done for the other models was low and also covered a wide range this we added Tial and Precision for the exhaust manifolds. If we had to do it again I would say no, we do not sell enough of these to even come close to a cost recovery even with the cost being lower on the mold work. We probably never will ever break even on any of them except the stock flange which has.

If you loop this to the downpipes 5 bolt make business sense for us while the other ones do not. If we had the manifolds in stock the sale ratio for them is higher than downpipe parts so a limited item for something more specialized becomes and even lower seller which further reinforces the nope factor.

This is just overall for Mazdaspeed3/6. You add in the Mazdaspeed 6 which even less people buy parts for it is really an even further losing proposition for us this the 5 bolt flanges.

    tl;dr
this cost money to make and we don't want to lose money

Honestly maki g the first bit of the downpipe its own section is the best support you could provide for all the different flanges

Thanks for your response. And to be honest, I'm surprised you even considered making this product for the MS6 and still afraid you might change your mind before it ships. So put me down for one and I'll make it work somehow.
