I'm having a curious issue with my MS6.

I was driving it late at night when the engine suddenly died, and while it could crank it wouldn't start. The fuel pump wasn't priming. I had to get the car towed home, but when I tried troubleshooting more in the morning it started up without issue. I went for a simple drive to see if I could recreate it, and eventually after like 20 minutes of driving it died again. The in-tank fuel pump, again, wouldn't prime and the car wouldn't start, but after over an hour of sitting on the side of the road, the car was able to start up fine without issue and get me home.

I'm assuming it's probably the fuel pump or perhaps the fuel pump relay, but I wanted some other opinions as I'm not confident in that diagnosis. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like a bad fuel pump. It's shutting off once it's hot.

How much fuel is in the tank? The pump is cooled by gasoline.

It has 3/4 of a tank.

I guess my diagnosis wasn't too bad. I'll buy a new fuel pump then.

A bad crank position sensor will have similar issues, just FYI, Minus the pump not priming. So I'd imagine it's the pump and not the crank sensor

Perhaps checking voltages at the pump connector would be valuable when the car is acting up. Would be expensive and intensive to replace the pump and have it be wiring related.

I changed the in-tank fuel pump, filter, and retaining ring (absolutely mutilated the original) and I haven't had any issues with the car shutting off since.
