Ran across these today... Never heard of them before. Newbie owner here in MI just bought an MS3 off a local lot and had these on the car already, posted a pic when asking about mods already installed. Only source I could find for them is an eBay link, no other original website or such. @AYOUSTIN and I seemed a little curious as neither of us hearing of them before. Is it another gimmicky proclaimed eBay "performance" mod? Quite possibly. They claim 40,000 volts, but is that a realistic rating, and what do the OE coils produce. Personally I've never had an issue with the OE coils, and there are mods such as the solid copper wire for spark blowout such as the one @Maisonvi did a write up for. This thread is mostly out of curiosity... anyone else ever heard of these?

Interested to see if anyone had used these or knows anything about them.

the number of applicable vehicles makes me suspicious of a performance upgrade

When I saw the mention of ignition coils I had to double check it wasn't in one of the RX-8 groups.
[doublepost=1463675815][/doublepost]I gotta say the orange looks cool, and their shield badge that looks just like the Porsche badge is awesome. However:
And the only cars listed for fitment are Mazda3's. Heh, I'm thinking that isn't going to happen. Unless maybe this is like the old Synapse thing, let's not show a performance advantage over another properly working unit, let's just show that going from a failed/leaking unit to a new one of a different type gives a performance advantage. As though it isn't obvious that that would make things better.

The OE coil pack number L3G218100A is listed for various model 3's, 5's, 6's, CX7's, Miata's and Speed's, so I'm not worried about that. A matter of fact when I had a coil go bad on me, I sourced one from an NC Miata that replaced my bad one. What I would like to know is the OE is capable is producing. I do call BS on the proclaimed "5-20 RWHP" gain these claim

Glad to see a thread made for this. To date the only other option I've seen for coils is weaponx coils and those are about as good as it gets but also not cheap.

I'm suspicious of this, I've spent most of the morning trying to think of ideas to be able to measure their output. The only thing I could think of is using a spark tester and seeing if this can jump a larger gap than a stock coil.

Seems like it shouldn't be that difficult really, just need a high speed data acquisition system that can read up to like 40k volts or whatever. If we really care, I know a guy who can probably tell us how it's done.

If this is an OTS blowout fix, I'd be interested. The question is, how many volts do stock coils produce? My very basic Google search suggested stock coilpacks are ~30,000 volts. Take that worth a grain of salt.

Is the spark voltage created by charging up a coil and then pulling its connection suddenly to get the back EMF spike? If so and these packs are just a coil then resistance and inductance measurements should characterize them, I'd think.

    This a thread worth subbing

gapping plugs to .026 to keep spark in a high BMEP situation means that the ignition event in leaner (regular driving)situations is shit and flaky, and flame propagation variable.
that is as bad as it sounds

the better and more consistent the fire gets lit, the closer to the edge you can safely tune.

this, and fast, responsive injectors would make a signifigant change to the platform

Indeed. Anyone willing to buy/test these? Ideally, we'd have someone who can run logs who's experiencing blowout, then swap these in and try to run more logs to see if the blowout is gone. If it could be managed to be done quickly during the same day, we could better control for atmospheric variables, barometric pressure, humidity, temp, etc.

The next step would be to start widening the spark plug gap to see if we can maintain no blowout while enjoying the added benefits of a wider gap.

I think what we need is something like the CD ignitions. allowed for a longer dwell for more stable spark.

Makes you wonder if we could adapt the 05-06 mazda 3 coil and get a accel coil pack

Says they put out 40,000 volts. I wonder what stock coils' output is?

The accel coils advertise the same or similar. But have you found the Becker ignition anywhere besides ebay and amazon?

I checked myself and the only mention of this item is on ebay and I cannot find this brand having their own website so I would not trust it. there is not even a manufacturing web page for this company which makes me suspicious. by using my boost a spark I should be getting higher output as is.

That was my thoughts as well, it would be nice to be able to run a standard plug gap and still be able to not have blow out

Only real way to test them is for someone to be a guinea pig. Run a tune that gives blowout up top, immediately swap coilpacks and run again to see if it disappears. If it does, widen plug gap maybe .002 incrementally to see when it comes back. Done the same day/quickly can eliminate ambient variables.

Hello, I bought those and installed them. They are working fine. Spring inside seems harder and the package is topclass. All in separate boxes with padding! I also have a HKS Twin Power connected to them. That was right from the start. Don't know how they perform without the HKS.

So, what's your mod/tuning level? Would you be willing to take some logs, open up the plug gap, take some more, etc., to see if we can get a good amount more gap without running into blowout? The added benefits of a bigger plug gap would really be nice.

Also, have a link the the HKS product you're using? Was it hard to install??
