    Happy Monday guys. I'm in the process of trying to figure out the production total of our cars. To my knowledge Mazda hasn't released this information so there is only rough estimates. So far I've mapped out what I think is all possible VIN combinations, so all that's left is to run through the sequence. But in the interest of saving time if anyone's interested then just list the details of your car and I'll add it to the list. So far I've mapped out close to 200 of them and counting, I'll drop what info I'm collecting below and appreciate any help. And if there's any questions let me know.

    Requested Info:
    Model Year
    Vin Number
    Original Color
    Tech/Non-Tech
    State the vehicle is in
    Rough Mileage
    If vehicle has any previous Accidents or if the vehicle is totaled, Salvaged, Scrapped, or parted out.

    Update:
    attached is a screenshot of what I have so far just to give an idea of what I want to do and show I'm serious. As it stands though I'm still going VIN by VIN looking for speeds so it'll take way longer than if everyone helps out, but I've added another 50-60 since the initial post I'm open to any feedback or to make any changes if people want to see it.

    Update:
    Just cracked 400, so I'm guessing that's somewhere between 2% - 5% of the total cars based off of my estimation and the article posted states. Looks like there was anywhere from 130-200,00 Mazda 3's produced each year. If 5,000 per year is the magic number than that means the Speed3 makes up anywhere from 2.5% to 3.75% of the production numbers each year. Also idk if it's been documented but based off what I've found so far Color popularity goes as follows :
    Black = 33%
    Silver = 26%
    Red = 21%
    Blue = 5%
    White = 15%

    Update:
    Been a little busy with school so haven't updated as much as I wanted too, however I've made major progress and am almost at 1K VINs. Now some of these don't have color or Carfax info because I'm going to do that all at once. Question for everyone is, is there interest in the list being posted as it is now, or waiting until there is a more sizeable representation of the total population i.e. 50% complete or so? As always any feedback is appreciated, and feel free to post your vehicle info.

    Update:
    Back again for an update, I've been busier this summer than anticipated so haven't got to work on this as much as i wanted to. But i cleaned some things up and added the status info to vehicles i already had VINs for. I'm attaching a link to the spreadsheet view-able by browser. As far as the spreadsheet goes, the red cars are completely totaled and not roadworthy, the yellow ones have "Unclean" titles which can be anything from an accident to a salvage or rebuilt title. This will probably change later but i didn't want to over complicate things. If the damage column has N/A it means no accident, and if there is no data in a column it means i haven't had a chance to add it to the spreadsheet yet. If anyone has any feedback, questions or suggestions let me know, as always feel free to send me your info. This can be done by PM if you don't want your VIN tied to your username. Thanks for checking back in.

    Update:
    Overdo but I'm still working on this, Gen 1s have been added in feel free to add your info.

    Made in sequence of non speeds, so no easy way to know.

    I read somewhere they released 5000 speeds a year in the US. So about 15000 Gen Won's, and 20000 Gen Pu's. Not sure of accuracy... Not including the Speed6

    Found this on automotive.com

    Mazdaspeed3 Origins

    For years, Mazdaspeed was recognized as the race-oriented division of Mazda due to its fleet of high-performance cars in limited edition versions. In 2007, American automobile consumers and enthusiasts were able to get a taste of the Mazdaspeed3. Only 5000 units of this super-sport compact car were produced for sale in the U.S. Drivers and automobile aficionados looking for an undeniably quick and highly responsive top-performance car at an economic price would be satisfied with this well-engineered vehicle that combined daily practicality and sporty performance without any glitches.

    Yes all years, although I'm starting with the 2nd gen because I thought it would be more popular and I would get more support...so far though I've been on my own :pancarta:

    Never saw this, thanks a lot!! A tleast this gives me some idea of total numbers.
    [doublepost=1492112432][/doublepost]To the people giving input, feedback and showing activity here I appreciate it. Still no one has posted their car's info yet so maybe I should show some of what I've been doing. So I will attach a screenshot of what I have so far just to give an idea of what I want to do and show I'm serious. As it stands though I'm still going VIN by VIN looking for speeds so it'll take way longer than if everyone helps out, but I've added another 50-60 since the initial post I'm open to any feedback or to make any changes if people want to see it.

    So you would need someone's VIN to verify this info? For what it helps I have a White '13 MS3.

    Yea, ideally the VIN/Color is the most important info, but if that's all the info you want to provide I'll use it as a place holder until I eventually come across your VIN. The mileage and location are bonuses I'll eventually get from Carfax and will be helpful once Im done mainly for used purchases. I can't tell you how many shady Speeds I found that are tech packages with the wrong headlights on it. Or have signs of mileage tampering. So it'd be nice to be able to pull up the list see the mileage it had when I added it and know if it's listed as lower then there is something shady. Or know if it's been in an accident or totaled before easily.

    What consequences or issues could someone get from giving out their VIN #'s? Just curious since you said no one has given theirs out yet.

    Forgive the noobish dumbness, but I'm just curious.

    None that I know of, I suppose for privacy maybe or just disinterest in the task but as long as my methods keep working i'll find them all eventually whether its given or not. But I'm hoping once it reaches a point where I have a significant portion of the VINs collected more people will participate.

    I definitely plan on doing the 1st gens, but started with the 2nd just because I figured there'd be more interest and less that have been totaled and such. But feel free to post your 1st gen. Depending on how long it takes me to finish the list and the reception it gets then I'll possibly do the 'Speed6, but you can give me that one too and I'll log it. In theory it should be simpler since it had a shorter run, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

    Is this still going on? I have three Speed3's I can add to the list and can help you sort out VINs and color combos...
