This is my amateur guide to installing GA7163 Radio.

    IMG_20170512_102204.jpg

Good news, everyone! it actually super easy to install and only took me about 40min and that's stopping to take pictures. A pro could probably do this in 20min.

    Steps
    1. Unpack the box and make sure everything there is included.

    2. screw side mounting plates on to the side of the radio with provided hardware and unhook your cars battery.
    IMG_20170512_151115.jpg IMG_20170512_151302.jpg

    3. Remove vents dash trim piece using the provided trim removal tool, by gently prying up.
    IMG_20170512_151711.jpg IMG_20170512_151724.jpg

    4. Unscrew the 2 mounting screws holding the radio in place
    IMG_20170512_151800.jpg

    5. slide your fingers down the back of the radio using both hands pull outwards towards you and the radio will pop out of place. then garbing the bottom lip remove the radio from its bay.

    IMG_20170512_151849.jpg

    6. Once free of its bay, unplug the 3 connectors attached to the stock radio, using a flat head screwdriver to help push the release buttons on the clips. ( sorry to hard to get my phone back there to take a picture. )

    7. The radio should be free to remove and your bay should look something like this.
    IMG_20170512_152750.jpg

    8. Connect the wiring harness to the correct plugs, you cant mix this up they only fit one place.
    IMG_20170512_153038.jpg IMG_20170512_153101.jpg

    9. Attach the double sided tap to the provided gps anti, then attach gps anti to the flat spot above your vent piping, This is tricky to see, just feel around with your hands. The second photo shows where i stuck it up with in the dash. The wire should be spooled up routed between your vents. They bay is now ready for the installation
    IMG_20170512_153638.jpg IMG_20170512_153633.jpg IMG_20170512_153810.jpg

    10. Plug in wire adapters to the back of the radio, there is a 3rd wire the goes above the black plugin in picture, this is also the stage where you plugin your usb to ipod connection if you wanted this feature.

    IMG_20170512_154059.jpg

    11. Attach radio wires to the bay wires, this cant be mixed up as they only fit in one place/
Then tuck wires as far back into the bay as possible routing the gps anti wire in the space provided at the top corners of the radio and slide radio into place.
    IMG_20170512_155756.jpg

    12. adjust radio placement by wiggling it tell its appears and feel flush to the surrounding dash pieces
This would be good time to reconnect the battery and test the radio functionality before securing it into place.

    13. Secure the radio to the dash by screwing to the to side brackets to the car
    IMG_20170512_151800.jpg

    14. Reinsert your vent trim it should just pop back into place
    IMG_20170512_160320.jpg

    and your are complete.

Here is a great video for older model, but alot of the tips and tricks still apply.

I just installed one of these, thought about doing a thread, now I don't have to. I put a dash and backup camera in with mine. That was the hardest part. The radio is really easy.

And one other thing, if you have a phone paired with your car, the phone will still try to connect to the Mazda Bluetooth unless you drop the glove box and unplug the module. It is located just above the glove box.

I just didn't like the idea of the Bluetooth module being on for no reason. Less radio interference in the car that way as well. Plus my glove box was vibrating and I wanted to damp it, so it was a two birds situation.

I don't think they do, my car didn't have satellite radio though.

After solid month and abit of owning one now, I am really enjoying it and don't regret my purchase. I've had one issue with it. for some reason the radio app glitched out and i couldn't change the station or open the app. I fixed it buy disconnecting the battery for a minute, then reconnected and it worked again.

My only issue with these head units is losing some steering wheel controls. If that was fixed I would buy it.

I'm mostly happy with mine. I get the odd application crash here and there, but I'm typically running Google music, a dash cam app, and Waze at the same time and it's mostly stable. Can't complain for the price.

I agree that I miss having the steering controls to start voice commands, that would be nice to start Google Assistant, but I hate talking to anyone in any form when driving so that doesn't bother me as much as it might some people.

    hello,
I just installed this unit my 3 with the Bose system and ran across this forum and figured this seems more help than the manual.
    I have a few questions
1 - The volume is crazy loud using the radio, with the dvd its normal?
2 - Will it work with the google pixel smart phone? can't seem to get it to connect
3 - Parking brake, says it can be disabled, how? Extra car settings needs a password
I'm sure I will have more questions for this as I am a bit tech challenged
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey @Chuck Smith, welcome to the forum boards

    1) theirs a Loud button you can click to make it quieter (at least on model 7163)
    2) 100% sure it is compatible with Google Pixel or any android phone that's Honey Comb or higher
    3) Parking Brake? passwords just go to Eonon Support page or even there Facebook page. I've been meaning to do so but just haven't found the time

    Thanks,
I got the parking brake issue worked out, just ground out the pink wire and good to go, or you need to buy a jumper.
The volume thing has me stumped. over 10 on the volume and I'm about to blow my speakers, with the dvd I can turn it up all the way.
I'm in contact with Eonon support re the connectivity issue with my phone. I'll let you know about that.

Hey I recently changed the bose speakers in my car. Will this head unit still be applicable?

Two things: the "blow the hair off the top of your head" volume thing comes from running an amplified signal into another amplifier (the very way this thing ties into the Bose system). There is a setting in the "factory settings" menu that lets us adjust the internal gain for each source and it is THE solution. I changed it on my own device, works exactly as it should. I don`t recall the factory settings menu password offhand but it`s not a big secret. IIRC it`s 126, but a quick Google search would confirm.

And yep, if the audio in your car is currently working, the Eonon will also work. So if you have replaced the speakers and it`s working now, let 'er rip.

Thank you very much. Would you guys have a tutorial or instruction list on how to install the dash cam/ back up camera for the eonon7163 stereo for a 2010 mazda 3 sedan, manual transmission?

    Awesome find VoodooJef

I would agree what he says is the right way to fix your issue.

@Kbruno101 try looking on YouTube for video of people doing it with older models like 5163. They can't be very different
