The Michigan/OK/CO guys that are making it have cabins. @Chef (I hope that is is user tag here) booked them, I don't recall the exact location.

[doublepost=1552575799][/doublepost]OK, not sure if this will be popular but I have had people ask me if we could get a group going for a movie run to watch Avengers Endgame. So far we have about 20 people +/-. Wanted to post here to garner some interest, I know most won't but we are thinking of doing this as the run to a theater will be fun as well all the back roads are. Just putting it out there.

Hey! [emoji112] I'm new to this forum and joined because I'm interested in making out to the dragon this year with my MS6. Can someone tell me a little more about what to expect? I'd be coming with my wife and two boys if I make it so I'm hoping it's a family friendly atmosphere. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Welp, depending on who you are hanging around with its either family friendly or not so much with the weird talks that go on. However, i think that most would try to respect having family with you. Our Tampa Nator topics can really be way out there and can get people really offended. But expect to have fun driving the dragon and the company of fellow Nator folks.

I think it is mostly family friendly, if you are out with us at 2am drinking obviously the topics will be slightly different than the ones around your wife and kids at dinner. I think everyone does a pretty good job of keeping the two separated, and from what I see there is not an organized dinner this time so you'll miss that rowdy atmosphere.

Side note, I work in Fayetteville, roughly a week a month. I work for DuPont, so I am down on 87 there, we usually go to town for lunch. Y'all have some cool spots down there (Stop Button Arcade...its 7 bucks all you can play arcades and they have cheap PBR), hit me up sometime amigo.

I didn't know you were still trekking to Fayetteville NC. Why no stops in Charlotte....

Far as family goes it was best said earlier about keeping them separate. Mostly during the day its driving and getting to know one another. The late evenings can get a little frat house style at times. I don't know how sheltered you family is but it can't be much worse than your old typical family drunk at the holiday dinner. It however won't be the first time kids were brought and Im sure it's won't be the last.

Because I am lazy and fly most of the time, usually to Raleigh or Wilmington. I am getting inked this year down in Wilmington, I have 8 sessions booked to wrap up my right sleeve. That said, I may drive it a time or two this year and make a pit stop to hang.

I'll just say it, It ain't really a kid friendly environment. I think for most people, the point is to get away from family for a bit.

I disagree, it depends entirely on where you are. When this was a huge event there were enough cliques for everyone. If you wanted to drive, there were people driving, if you wanted to hang at the hotel, yeah there was a group for that too, there were others with kids just as there were some that just wanted to get fucked up together. The campgrounds got a little wild, but the hotel was never too crazy.

As it has become a smaller and smaller event I think it has toned down to the point it's pretty docile now. If my kids were just a tad older and my wife wouldn't kill me I'd bring them, but its not because the event isn't kid friendly, I just think the roads would not be fun for them. More and more this event has become what each small group makes of it, I know the OK/MI crew are 100% kid friendly if anyone wants to hang.

I think that's just the GA crew lol, but to my point y'all roll as a group and no one brings family. The experience for y'all is tailored to suit that. But plenty of the MI crew brought spouses, kids, etc. I think if you are coming for the first time we will be able to guide you to a group that fits whatever you are looking to do.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in on my question. I'm most likely going to be just coming with my youngest son. That having been said is there a schedule put together for this event? I really want to be there for the meet up at Fontana Dam and, of course, the ride down the Dragon [emoji236]

I also have no idea of the “formal” schedule, in years past there was a meet up at Fontana with a Kill boy picture, as far as scheduled dragon times we haven’t done that since 15’ that I recall. To be fair we had a huge group that first year and we did a morning meeting, divided people up by driving experience and went in groups with a leader for each group.

Anecdotal experience, go early morning and evening to avoid the tourists. If you are brining your son, I’d say stay off the tail at night. If you’re interested, the CO/MI/OK group are working on a loose itinerary for Friday evening through Sunday morning. We’re going to be doing a ton of driving though, even debating Blue Ridge on Saturday. More than welcome to tag along with our group, we have a Miata, two speed 3s and a Rental car right now.

    Guys,

It is a tad, and by tad I mean a fuck ton, too late to do much in the way of planning for this, but I would like to at least get some things loosely laid out. Otherwise we are going to have a cluster of the small groups that are going with no way to schedule a meet up given the complete and utter lack of internet/phone access out there.

Ideally I would like to see a Saturday morning meet up where we can divide everyone into groups based on what they are wanting to do and their driving experience. This was done very well the first Epic and it simply fell apart. Our group hasn't been without accidents, I would like to avoid that this year.

I would also like to get some sort of dinner planned, I know it won't be a raffle, charity, or really anything like what we have done in the past. But if we could at least get an idea of headcount we could maybe plan to meet somewhere.
