I don't think I've ever heard of someone having issues reading oil level with a normal dipstick..... And if you're about to consider spending $90 on a dipstick then we need to have a talk.

What am I supposed to Google? Again, I've never heard of any Speed having a problem seeing oil level. If you don't see oil on the dipstick, you need to put oil in the car.

Odd. Ive had 4 speeds since 2012 and none have had inconsistent dipstick readings. I think a lot of the issue is people trying to check on a hot engine that they haven't given enough time for the oil to drain back into the pan.

Hot check for me , i do every time i get gas.
Pull up to the pump. Open the hood. 5-10 min pass as i fill the gas, go inside grab snacks. Pull the dip stick and wipe it clean. Then reinsert and pull back out to take actual reading.

Same for cold after the car has sat overnight, pull dipstick. Wipe it clean. Reinsert and check level. Cold level is slightly lower of course. But still consistent

What inconsistencies are you seeing while checking your oil? Is your tube not seated in the pan?

I think you missed the joke here sucka. Freaking Miata drivers!

As you can see from lots of folks, this is not really a thing. The fact that that thing can vent some pressure is kinda cool, but $90 is a lot for a dipstick when you can just get a vented oil cap or something else to address your crankcase evac issues.

I had to buy a longer one, as if was too short to read any oil. Must have shrunk.

Lol let your car cool down atleast 5min, check it on a level surface... problem solved.
There's even a nice diagram in the owners manual to tell you how to read it and tels you how to check the oil.

Dipstick size is no joking matter. And luckily I have never had an issue. My personal "OEM equipment" is a "performance dipstick".

Any dipstick appears to be a performance dipstick when it’s in a tiny little Miata. Just sayin.

I have no physical way of justifying $90 for a dipstick.

Exactly, makes me wonder what OP has gotten himself into that he needs a brand new dip stick? lose it somehow and upgrade because why not?
Although on the other hand, maybe his is all bendy so that it's coming up short? but it would have to have a massive bend in it, because any minor bending would still read what I assume would be within reason.

Even OEM, from my super quick google search, is like bellow $25.
