Just so you know, everyone here shittalking the tune isn't wrong. Whoever tuned this cost you your motor, and it shows in the logs.

I wouldn't say I "KNOW" how to tune but I've tuned mine since I've had an AP and your tune and tuner is #1 BULLSHITS and I'm saying this to help you.

a good log on a straight flat road would be like 5-7 seconds 60-100. Yours was a hair over 3 seconds. Was it done on a dyno? A good street log isn't going to change much, but it might reveal something else.

Mazdaspeeds are not one of the easiest to tune, and "local guys" (especially south FL back in the day) were notorious for not understanding what they were doing, resulting in ZZB like above. @Mauro_Penguin can attest to this!

So yeah, looks like a bum toon blew it up. Sorry man.

    I'm late to this party.

So yes, a bad tune on ANY car platform can cost you a good engine. Unfortunately I've seen a lot of dumbshit done to these cars.

If you don't already know, anytime you suspect any kind of issue with any engine, pull the spark plugs for inspection. They can tell you a lot about how the engine is running. It's easy and you don't need special hardware/software for it. Guys that used to race carb engines back in the day used the same technique successfully to tune.

    Anyway...

I used to visit Orlando a lot a few years ago when my buddy lived in Oveido, what part of Orlando do you live by?

Who are you buying the 2.5 engine from? Just so we can give you suggestions if needed on what to expect.

Please please please, go with a reputable tuner. When you contact your tuner, share with them every detail about the engine you bought and all the parts you have. The more info you give them, the better they can tune. Just to name a few of the good reputable tuners for our platform, there is Hypnotic Tuning, Purple Drank Tuning, Dizzy Tuning, Nishan, and Freek Tune. Don't leave any secret weapon parts out, and if you are not sure about something, ask them for help.

Despite what you may read out there our engines are quite tough, but if you get sloppy or cheap with anything they can let go of a piston real easy.

I will man I learned my Lesson, I was just trying to support local guys. I know how bad ppl talk about our cars n I know they not bad. Hence it last this long beating on it with a tune that bad.

Not too sure you're going to be able to just do an engine swap man.

I’ve been in contact with a couple of guys that have done it. It sounds pretty straight forward but as you know with everything that sounds too good to be true. I was told all I need pretty much is add a return and feed for my turbo

You also need to swap the DISI head to the 2.5 shortblock.

Open Office. It's basically a tab/comma delimited spreadsheet.
If you mean the screenshots I took of the graphed output, that's from Virtual Dyno.

As for what Andale said (and as far as I know), our platform is the only one on the planet with the specific injector drive requirements we have; so rewiring the injector plugs to work with a different set of injectors is either going to burn up injectors or the ECU upon first start.

Our fuel rail actually bolts into the head, so you would keep basically the entire OEM 2.3 fuel setup if you swap to the DISI head.

Really not condoning the 2.5 swap with cast crankshaft and all, but its a relatively simple swap.

My comment was more directed towards a complete 2.5 swap (including the head). I think it would be amusing to see what happens when you push 700 watts through PI or non-compatible DI injectors.
