I searched for a similar style thread here, but could not find one. (@Raider, feel free to delete this thread if there is already a similar one).

Pretty simple thread and is just for fun:

    1) What year is your MS3?
    2) How many miles is on your car?
    3) Are you on the original motor, rebuilt, or built block?
    4) Do you still daily drive your car?

Bonus question: What was your main driver for modifying your car? (Autocross, Track Days, doing pulls in "Mexico", or just a general interest in all things mechanical and a fun/expensive hobby?)

    My answers are:

    1) 2011
    2) 123,000 miles (owned since 2013 @ 14,000 miles)
    3) Original motor: consumes about half to a full quart per 3500 mile OCI. Not sure if turbo or rings (good compression and leakdown)
    4) Daily driver

Bonus: I started (lightly) modifying for fun and an interest in cars; though I wish I started when the engine had less miles...looking forward to upgrading to a BNR S3 next year! I'd like to try out autocross one year, but that's a no-go this year due to COVID.

    1) 2013
    2) 104,500 miles (owned since new)
    3) Original motor
    4) Daily driver
Bonus: I just wanted to improve on some aspects of the car, to make it a better daily driver.

    1) 2008
    2) Just turned 242K miles
    3) Original motor: I bought the car with 92K miles - Runs like a dream. Little things come up from time to time i.e. Thermostat replacement, Pivot Shaft Seal, Slave cylinder etc. I do all of my own wrenching so keeps costs at a minimum for repairs.
    4) Daily driver

Bonus: Finally fully bolted with the exception of the stock muffler. It sounds awesome, so won't be replacing that. This has been my DD for the last 8 years and I still have fun every time I drive it.

@Benny71, 242,000 miles and on the original motor?!? That's awesome man...gives me hope for many more miles. Does your car consume any oil?

I have a stupid question...when people say fully bolted, what does that typically entail? Intake, intercooler, downpipe and turbo (with all of the obvious supporting mods...HPFP internals, EBCS, MAP sensor, etc.)

@Duey1083. They all consume oil, I change my oil every 3-4k miles with Penzoil Full Synthetic 5w-30 and I'm always down a quart or so when I change it.

You are correct about "fully bolted". All external bolt on mods. vs. built motor i.e. full after market bottom end, cams, big turbo, like 6266 big etc. Those guys are in a different league.

    1) 2009
    2) 135k (alll mine!)
    3) original motor, bought it with 74 miles on it. I’ve done the timing chain and vvt actuator though. That’s the only time my motor has been opened up.
    4) it’s on jack stands. But I daily drove it from new until the turbo died in early June. I will daily it when my new turbo is installed (in the next week or two).
Bonus: when something breaks, it was the weak spot. Replace it with the best you can and it will be better. Sometimes better is faster, sometimes better is more reliable, sometimes better is both but never neither.

10/06 built 2007 speed3 gt original owner. 159k miles. Original motor. Retired from daily use last August and have put 15k on a 2019 3 since.

This Saturday I'm paying a tech to do a lot of work I simply don't have time to do. Pains me to not drive her.

@Raider, Why did you have to retire it from being your daily driver?

No shame in getting the work done by a tech if you don't have time. There's lot of stuff I can't or just won't do...though now that I finally have a garage, I'm getting more courage/motivation to do more of the work.

100 miles a day commuting in a manual was killing my knees. And the upkeep for 8 months was 2 years of lease payments after all my discounts. So weekend use. But so much unchecked and wonky driving led me to park it. Now I have the funds, I'll get her mostly done. Leaving a pnp mani and tune refresh for later, as well as a few little things.

@Benny71, at what mileage were you fully bolted (i.e. with the CST4)?

Sorry to hear about the issues you were having @Raider...your repairs remind of my experience with my BMW 330i before I sold it and bought the speed 3. I lost about $14,000 CDN in just two years of driving it. Ridiculous car and brand, lol.

@Duey1083 - I installed the CST4 at about 235k. The K04 had some shaft play, it was time for a change. Very happy with the Corksport turbo.

    2) 75 000 Miles ( Purchased at 45 937 in 2017 )
    3) Original Motor

Bonus.Wanted a car that was fun to push on every now and then. Certainly delivers when called upon.
Looking forward to a bigger turbo in the future. Really want it to pull hard all the way to Redline.

    1) 2012
    2) 95,600 - Purchased new in Dec of 2011 with 23 miles on it
    3) Original motor
    4) Everyday I'm not riding the motorcycle

I have a heavy foot and wanted something that I thought would hold up to me and was in my price range. That being said this is the longest lasting car with the most miles on it out of everything I've owned and no reason for it not to keep on going *knocks on wood*

    1. 2011
    2. 114,000 miles - purchase November 2018 with 87k.
    3. Original motor
    4. Although I work from home I make an excuse to drive it daily.
Bonus: wanted a raw daily, test drove gti, si, wrx, ms3 - nothing made me smile more than the ms3. Now I'm fully bolted, CST4, and tuning (trying to resolve boost issues).

I have a 2008 with 51K miles. Original engine. Obviously it isn’t a daily driver.

Are you experiencing boost creep with the CST4? Or what kind of boost issues are you dealing with?

Nah no creep, was something not related to the turbo. I just wasn't holding 20psi through 6k, but that was fixed last week.

    2. 21,000 Miles
    3. Original Motor
    4. Daily driven

Bought it last month. An older man bought it new and NEVER drove it. Traded it in to my local dealer because he couldn't push the clutch pedal in any more. A good friend is a salesman at the dealer and he sent me pictures immediately when they got it. I got pretty lucky
