spitballing here... feasibility of adding a fan to the oil cooler to increase airflow?

Wheel wells can have high pressure in them. It's why you will see racecars have louvers over the tire to let the high pressure out and help front downforce.

I doubt this build is to that level yet but could still have an issue creating a pressure differential, a fan could help or it could be as effective as pissing into the wind

Pressure differential is the way to go. The fans on your radiator are really only there for low speed operation.

This would help at idle and low speed but would actually act as a blocker at higher speeds. My brz buddy added a fan on his to help oil temps come down quicker at idle(remember he’s the guy who sees 2psi at HOT idle lol) and for him it only helped at idle. On track his temps were the same. Maybe even a little hotter. I might play with this idea though

Thought about this. I’m not sure my build is to this level yet. I will be keeping it in mind though. Pressure differential was my initial plan. Adding a fan in most people’s heads seems to be the best bet but I am aware this is not the case.

Thinking I’m gonna go to the track tomorrow for an evening session. 5-9. Do a light little shake down. See what’s what.

I think my bats are going to be ridiculous without the under tray. I put it on drove a few miles and bats were much lower then without. Problem is I have nowhere to mount the front of the under tray as it use to bolt to the oem grill. I need some kind of custom mount up front or I need this piece from bayson R
    https://baysonr.com/products/10-up-...yle-grill-only-pu?_pos=1&_sid=2f7eae2f2&_ss=r

the under tray will not stay up without it. It just gets pulled to the ground.

next I think my oil temps will be ridiculous. Did a 350mile road trip “canyon” style cruise with my buddies last weekend. 250f oil temps basically the whole time lol. It was 110f out but still. Damn. Too hot lol.

After that I think my brake pads will start to fade. I’m able to get them to basically the point of fade on the streets. The car is much quicker now. Need to use more brakes.

Before I go I plan to change my oil back to my nice fancy redline oil. It can handle the heat. That much I know for sure.

I’ll also be pulling my hpfp apart for a spring cleaning. After that,
    It’s off to the track!!

Lol with an oil cooler installed I would still go. I’ve been to plenty of track days at 100+.

Tomorrow’s only gonna be mid to low 80’s lol. Most days are low 90’s. The heat doesn’t really bother me personally. I’m lucky on that lol.

not worth it for me. Slow lap times, hard on the car, tires get destroyed. I’ll wait for the cool weather to come around.

Hmm...this guy doesn’t look very happy...normal? I don’t recall it looking like this last season. Time for new hpfp internals ? Ugh
The spring didn’t seem very springy either. Can easily compress by hand. Is that normal? I don’t remember.

When was the last time you had them out? Does it not clean off? Maybe try carb cleaner. Perhaps an occasional fuel system treatment might help. Atleast it's not a huge job if they were pulled out yearly. I'm wondering what mine look like now. You dont run any E, I assume, so black death is not a factor...just bad Canadian gas?

How are your water temps looking with the koyo rad? If you've got more headroom there you could look into an oil/water heat exchanger.

I cleaned them last season when I was having issues with the internals seizing. This is apparently an issue when the internals get dirty or very hot. Mine definitely see more heat then the average car. No idea why it looks like that but I’ll monitor my fuel pressure and see if it’s still working or not

The koyo rad seems to be making a pretty big difference on the street. We’ll see on track though.

Big fail at the track yesterday. Drove all the way there 1.5 hours, unload car. Do final oil level check before heading out on track. As im closing the hood I noticed...

Both of my PI fuel rail brackets had cracked. One of the injectors was ready to take off. Holy shit. Had I gone on track that would’ve been a nightmare instantly. Well this sucks. I zip tied the fuel rail down to the manifold so I could at least make it home. Just stayed out of boost which sucked.

There were a few locals out with their speeds, guys I know. So I decided to hangout for the night. Took one guy out for a few sessions. Idk what he was doing before me but it wasn’t track driving. Awesome to see such massive improvements from a little coaching. It’s also insane to see the difference in cars. We both have red gen2’s with coilovers and bolt ons and aftermarket wheels and tires and brakes yet on track the shit my car can do vs what his was capable of? Not even close. It’s funny when you tell someone “ok turn in, tighten up the wheel for the apex here” and he goes “I’m full lock cars not tuning” I KEEP FORGETTING THESE KIDS DONT HAVE ANY FRONT BITE(no camber plates not the best tires). It’s like shocking the difference.

another one of the boys had his Downpipe bung plug pop out on track. Right before the first o2 sensor lol. Damn. SOMEHOW he got so so lucky. I had an o2 sensor in my glove box. Buddy plugged the hole and back on track he went. Nice.

As for me? Fuck I wanted to take my car out there. After being in that other speed...fuuuckkkkkk my cars soooooooo much better

I guess considering you already have high oil temps you are combating, keeping the hpfp cooled might be a difficult task.

Too bad you werent able to get some lap time in. Get it all sorted out so you can go have fun without fear. I feel your pain on a smaller scale. Trying to tie up loose ends feels like plugging holes in a dam.

Haha yea it’s definitely a pain. Me and my buddy are going to make fuel rail brackets. We have an idea...these won’t break lol. Just need to run out and grab material then I’ll post up on how it worked out! I have my first competition day of the year on June 26th. Debating on if I’m going to make it or not. I really want one shake down day before.
