Hello all MAZDASPEED owners/tuners, I currently run the Base 93US/98EU Octane High Load with Crackle and Pop version 1.02. I live in a country where to loud cars get towed and u loose ur license. My question is would I be possible to get pop and bang activate with the rear window heater button? I seen GTI‘s with that option but never Speed‘s
    Thank You for reading this

How about disabling a shitty tune that crackles and pops because you're causing damage and excess wear on the engine? Get a real tune.

I can't stand crackle and pop tunes. What you're doing is forcing excessive timing and fuel dumping during decel to create the snap crackle and knock that eventually will lead to piston wear and damage. Plus it sounds like garbage.

There are a few e tuners for our platform that refuse to do crack and pop tunes but they will do a great job properly tuning your car for performance while retaining fuel economy and emissions. I have an upgraded turbo and a bunch of work still getting 25-28mpg on the highway because Freektune did a great job.

Wasn't trying to hate on you just the crackle and pop crap we see come up from time to time

No we don't have any options like that from our tuning platforms. You might be able to tell the ecu something from a canbus button "rear window heater" but the ecu still won't be able to do it. The crack and pop part of the tune requires a full flash to go back and forth we don't get any cool quick switch stuff.

Pop and bang? We're not civics and it really seems like pop and bang tunes blow our engines, I'm always seeing those posts don't run them.

Either way you need a complete ecu re-flash. But for the sake of your engine and the mazdaspeed community please don't run a pop and bang tune

The veloster pops and bangs from the factory. If it is done right it can fight turbo lag or help spool the turbo for launch control. Otherwise why would they do it in racing applications. They spend milions of dollars on engines and turbos I doubt they would waste money on something because "It sounds cool."

There is a difference between crackle and pop tunes vs real Anti lag setups.

If it cold be correctly and not blow engines on this platform that would be a different matter the reality is on speeds when a "pop and bang" tune is done it typically blows up the engine, and adds nothing to performance and is just an ear sore. Don't confuse pop and bang with anti lag.

The real issue is that you're firing the cylinder late enough that the exhaust valve might be open; a valve which gets almost all of its cooling from being *closed* so it can dump heat through the seat. It could also damage your downpipe, O2 sensor, etc.

Rally cars don't have to care about this because they generally only need to complete the race, or are built around using ALS.

A bit of a late response here, but you can technically have it on command. If you re-enable fuel cut on decel, and then adjust the timing for the part of the rpm range/load you only want this to occur on.

You now can enable it by having the throttle in enough to not cut fuel, but also stay within your target load activation range. It's disabled by being under full vacuum (where fuel cut is enabled)

*edit: Not saying this will be safer for your engine, nor am I recommending anyone to do it... Just wanted to post that it is technically possible to have this "feature" switchable in nature on this platform and tuner, without having to reflash each time for it, nor add extra systems to do it.
