Just cleaned this section a little. I removed the Skyactiv-x part, and will create that section at a later date. With the 2021 Turbo 3 out now, I think there is plenty of room for this section to grow even more, expecially with the existing turbo 6 platform!

The new turbo 3 seems like a worthy successor even if they aren't calling it Mazdaspeed

    It's fun, more like a refined speed3.

It kinda seems "meh" in stock form to me, but I'm really excited to see what people can do with it. And since Mazda is putting the 2.5T engine in a few different cars in a few years it may become a fun tuner engine that is readily available.

Once aftermarket speeds up and gets a solution for mass tuning I can see even more options.

So, bad news time. The Mazda 3 turbo uses what someone inside Mazda called a 6.5 ECU which is different from the Mazda 6 Turbo/Cx9 Turbo, and Cx5 turbo. The older cars have mazdaedit as an option but nothing is available for the new Mazda 3 as a editor of the stock ECU yet.

Lol, if you call an air to water heat exchanger "tech" then yes. You can feel it close the throttle in a 2-5th gear WOT pull when it starts to get warm. :( That is on the list already to come up with something.

Are you saying that the Mazda 6 turbo can be tuned with mazdaedit?

    ♥️

My wife has a 2020 6 turbo and we were told that it should be possible, but they wouldn't know for sure until they looked at it and hooked it up to the computer.
Now I guess we're just waiting for the warranty to expire.
Do you know off hand if she goes to the dealer and they have to reflash the ecu, does that clear everything out?

Yeah if the dealer re-flashes it will go back to stock.

I would remove the tune before a dealer visit, pretty easy to do. Flashing a car takes ~3 minutes

We don't have too much to worry about since my wife works at a dealership, but we don't have anything to flash the car. I guess we would need to speaker to the tuner and see what they can do if it gets reflashed. Thanks for the info @CorkSport - Derrick
