After how many engines I've been through, I've lost my manlihood.

That's...not how you're supposed to measure clearances though.

I took a very gender neutral approach this time.

iamareios, did you ever confirm the re-torque on the injector seals?

Yeah, he told me 28 ft lbs?? I ended up re-torquing them to 26.

Yeah I couldn't remember exactly but it was somewhere in there. Makes sense for the way that seal works, get it to deform just a little more to create a seal. Thanks for the reply!

Making moves over here. I have been suffering from insomnia, so I wrapped up the timing late last night. I got the timing cover on with ease and highly recommend use of the Cometic timing cover gasket. The final 90 degrees on the crank bolt was a little tricky by myself, but i got it in the end. It's pretty much buttoning up everything on the outside of the engine now. Although, I'm waiting for my hpfp housing to come back from powder coat. 20220122_134018.jpg 20220122_134028.jpg

You have excellent taste in garage tables. (I have a few of those same design myself).

Have you considered going to studs on the oil return? You would be getting more thread engagement than the OEM bolts provide, so less chance of stripping out as well as have an easier time maintaining later if necessary.

I have not considered it. I honestly haven't had any problems with the oil drain line I made for the s257sxe.

Motor is all back together. Of all things, I cannot find the damn belt tensioner and bolts. I ordered the replacement gates tensioner suggested from this forum. I'll have to head back to the hardware store and find some bolts as well. I received the rear main seal yesterday, so I'll get it off the stand and get that on. I'll have to get the flywheel and clutch back on also. I honestly don't know when I'll have time to drop the motor back in. It's hard finding that amount of time with a 3yr old. @StayFrausty wanna lend a hand?

Still waiting on a rear main and pilot bearing to arrive. I purchased the tune today though. Will is going to embrace me with his tender hands again. This time we will be live session tuning it on the street to make sure everything is kosher (given my history) before wrapping it up on the dyno. Since it is no longer my daily, we will be tuning for e48. Much excite, much wow. Can't wait.

FYI mazda/ford rear main seals no longer come with the white plastic install tool. Current PN rev. B for the seal does not include it anymore. I found out by ordering one from edge and they sent me LF01-11-310B
