So i just broke in a brand new engine (drive about 30km) with some conventional 10w40. Im wondering if you guys think its worth putting some BR Break in oil. My only worry is that the oil is too thick. Also im up in Canada and its about 5°C out right now. Its 15w50 oil and was the only thing i could find up here right now.

5w30 conventional oil usually for 20 mile hard break in and swap to good oil then send it

What do you mean by good oil? I broke it in with conventional Walmart crap and now im debating on castrol 10w40, that 15w50 BR break in oil or some 5w30 pennzoil. Im thinking of going thicker because i had some loose bearing clearances.

15 w50 seems thick for this time of year. Did the engine builder provide a recommended oil weight? Keep in mind that the stock oil spec is aimed at emissions and fuel economy so you won't want to use that

Thanks for the input, i didn't end up using the break in oil because it seemed way too thick. I ended up doing:
10w40 conventional Walmart supercrap for first 20 minutes

Motomaster 5w30 conventional for the first 20 miles

Castrol conventional gtx 10w40 for ~100 miles

Now ill probably change the oil again and go for that Castrol again. Ill be returning the 15w50 BR stuff to the shop i got it from. Built the engine myself and my bearing tolerances were a little on the loose side (at least with the bore gauge) so ill be sticking to 10w40 and 5w40 when i switch to synthetic. The conversational oil seemed to really do the trick, here is the pretty glitter art the engine made for us:
