    Hola!

Happy to join this forum, and hoping to get an idea on some differences between 2010* and onwards.

I have a 2012 w/ tech pacakge, single previous owner, no mods whatsoever. I would like to replace the instrument/gague cluster as it is one of the tackiest things I've ever seen.

I would like to replace it with a very clean 2010 (or 11?) I've found in a local junkyard. Same as this:

I understand that to have the mileage and what not match, I will need mazda to reprogram, that's fine.
But I can't find ANY info on why these are different, what other lights may be there etc. Is this plug and play?

    Thanks!

The 2010 does not have the ability to display a blue icon when the engine is cold

Hey thanks @Easter Bunny , that's the kind of info I'm after.

In your opinion, would a swap as "small" as this trigger anything like a theft code, mismatched voltage, etc?

Theft code for sure and it has to be programmed to the bcm and ecu. That said I don't know what else they changed and if the connectors are even the same

2010s are kinda the redheaded step child of the pu's lots of little shit is different

Ah, I have been wondering why the earlier gen 2's look, somehow, more refined than the final ones.

I for sure don't want to compromise ecu/bcm/drivability, so I'll give Mazda a ring to ask if they can help confirm the swap. Thanks again!

    I have a 2011, but had test driven a 2013 when a friend was considering buying a speed 3.

I agree...the gauges in the 2010 / 2011 are way nicer. I still like it even after owning it for 9 years.
