Hey I am checking here to see if anyone is still around.

My CX-7 has 146,000 miles and looking into doing a few maintenance things. It is running great but it does have a pretty significant oil leak somewhere. I have a catch can on it, but I think the PCV may be blocked so I'm basically preparing to replace that, and considering cleaning the valves, or at least inspecting them for carbon buildup. Figure I'll check the EGR and replace spark plugs and whatever else I can do while I am working on all these things.

So, just checking around for info, and to see if there's much activity around from some of the guys I used to see here.

Oh man, I remember you! Awesome to see you have it. @Alpha Wolf has his too. Ours became a minivan 9 years ago...meh.

People are still here yup! Replacing that PCV certainly is a good place to start if you're not seeing external leaks

I have a 2009 Honda Pilot (got used at 93k, now at 152k miles) that has been my family car the last few years and the CX-7 just a leisure vehicle. I have worked on the Pilot quite a bit, and being direct injected it has some similar potential issues. As I've been working on that car over quarantine, I've been going back to the Mazda to check on things too. I have been seeing how bad the intake manifold can be. Like I said my Mazda drives great but I am still kind of scared if I start working on it, taking things apart, it might not be as clean on the inside as I imagine it is, cause I keep it really clean and all the basic maintenance I handle. But that doesn't mean I won't find something internal.

So before I start working on it I want to know as much as I can. I also only have one spot to park a car to work on it, so I need to have my Pilot good to go for a while in case I need to work on the Mazda for longer than just a day or two.

They both are great cars and no issues, I just don't want to get stuck somewhere.

Yeah Raider I remember you got a Kia I think? What happened to the forum I still have stickers on my Mazda for lol? I guess this is it but what happened?

And yah Alpha Wolf, haven't seen him for a while. We both are into bikes and he lives near Laguna Seca, caught a few races and hung out a while back.

Old forum got shut down and long gone. Kia got dumped after 2 years and it was shit. Got a Sienna and then into 3 CX-5s now. I still have my speed and have a CX-30 lease. I'm selling Mazdas now can you tell?

Yah dude, the CX-30 looks nice, how are they?

I like the Pilot, it is a lot more comfortable to cruise in than the CX-7. And my sister has a Sienna, it's awesome. I am old enough now maybe, lol, I don't care as much about looks and if I was going to buy a car for carrying my 4 kids around for comfort, mini vans are super sweet now. Captain chairs, super smooth, all the amenities for every passenger. They're nice.

They are built on the new 3 platform. 2 months ago my 2021 3 was hit by a fucking dump truck and totaled. I'm beat up but the new Mazdas are stupid safe.

The CX-9 has captain's chairs now and 3rd row access is so much easier. No dual sliding doors but yeah.

Problem with the CX-7 was so much FoMoCo crap in it. When they split the CX-5 was born. The new 2.5T is fantastic! Rumor has if the CX-7 will be back with new stuff

Dam that's nuts! glad you're ok.

Yes I just read there's gonna be a 2023? CX-7. Now I'm jealous again, lol, I love my car and part of why is that I've kept it nice and STILL get a compliment on how nice it is every once in a while. But the new models are so cool.

I was 'racing' a CX-5 up on Angeles Crest when they came out. The dam thing pulled on me up a hill easy. I don't really know their power specs but I was a little surprised hahaha 'cause it didn't even have to try lol and for sure whatever they did to lighten them up and their new skyactiv motors definitely worked. haha.

You like the CX-30? Why'd you replace your 4th gen 3 with that instead of a new one? My current daily is a '21 CX-30 base, and it's a smooth and civilized daily with surpisingly capable handling. The turn-in feels like it may be sharper than my MS3 thanks to that brake vectoring shit they use now. The only weak link IMO is the transmission, it's indecisive at times.
BTW I run 93 octane in mine and swear that the ECU can tell the difference. There's definite timing advance going on at lower RPMs that isn't there on 87.

I got hit by a dump truck in my 3 and it got squished. CX-30 replaced it. It's easy to get in and out of. I did 93 and mpg went down. Cheap trash makes it happy. I use sport mode a lot to get up to speed. 5000 on it now.
