I own an 06 LMP MS6, pretty much bone stock with minor upgrades/updates to the car.

I recently bought a blown motor from a guy and got some extra goodies with it, one of the things was an OEM Mazda power steering pump delete pully, I've driven my MS6 with a bad pump and no power steering (pump died on the car at one point) before and it wasn't THAT bad but I dont know that I'd want the low speed issues of no PS daily driving the car.

ANYONE know what the pully is worth? I cant find anything on it, although I haven't searched a part number as of yet because it's at the shop, I will do that later.
Anyone looking to delete power steering on their MS3?

Yes, linky. With a larger diameter steering wheel it was not that bad, but I was about 1.5 seconds slower on a 2-minute course than with power steering.

When my PS went out, highway and city driving where fine, parking was WAY harder, had to parallel park alot at that time making it a bitch to turn the wheel.

And how much larger are we talking here

LOL, there are no restrictions on the video, should be available for everyone. The steering wheel was 380mm IIRC.

Miatas are 1/2 the weight of a MS6 though also much narrower and shorter all around. I've owned an 99 NB and I will say that in a miata even at low speed with no PS it is still FAR easier to maneuver than a MS6 with a dead PS pump is.

Edited the link, I think the previous one was me being on the settings page. The depowering was done using the Miata method (welding and inner seal removal).

Interesting I don't think I'd ever go full out like that for a DD street car, maybe if I went full race car, but I'm not there yet, other issues need to be addressed first.

Yeah but here's the thing you get more resistance by not performing a proper de powering. Those seals inside the gear basically become a giant air lock. Just removing the lines and pump isn't really converting to manual steering. You have the convert the gear itself.

I understand the concept of the depowered rack and how it functions, however I did not fully know that about depowering

I don't really mind manual steering Miatas, but I'll take one with power steering any day. I can't even imagine trying to drive something the size of the MS6 with the relatively fat tires at getting it into a tight parking space without the assist.

I had a 84 RX-7 GSLSE for a long time with a manual rack. I don't really want to go back.

Grab some free weights and start doing reps. Beef up your arms and it would be like having power steering
