I have a 2010 pu and the damn seat broke on it so it wobbles around like crazy now. I'm going to make an attempt to get Mazda to fix it under safety warranty but I'm not holding my hopes up. Has this happened to anyone else and did the stealership cover it?

Good chance they will not do shit.

I've seen it before. Used car that was in a bad wreck before bought. Got bumped from behind and the back of the seat broke and fell back.

You can look to get it welded, but it appears new frame is needed imo.

Time to get some Gen1 seats!

My friends 2011 had the same thing happen. You might be able to get Mazda to do a good will repair on it.

FYI.. Service advisors are your friend. These guys get beat up all day and when someone is cool and collected they normally go out of their way.

Interesting. Hopefully they will be willing to help me out. If not my brothers a professional welder so I'm sure I can have him weld it up

I would honestly just weld it. The new frame is likely to fail in the same spot. You can reinforce the problem spot

The only problem with waiting would be we don't have a welder at home only at his work. And he's out of work on injury for awhile because he got crushed by a machine.

Well that's why I think it should be covered under warranty. I'm not a heavy guy I only weigh 205 pounds soaking wet and horny

He may id have to ask him. But his welds are absolutely gold without the softness. He may have some local buddies that have welders at their house. I'll have to ask him when I get home

If needed I can ship you my welder to use. I've already sent it to the springs for other welder needs. It's well traveled.

    tapatalk, it sucks

We had a 2010 3 that the seat failed like that. Had a local friend weld it and it worked until we sold it later

I had the same thing happen on my 2010. I'm on the extended warranty, and the dealer got it covered b/c it's a "safety issue." My dealer has been good about negotiating work to be done on my Pu.

This has been going on with Genpus for a while. My dealer said they'd never seen it before. I was surprised, because I saw lots of info about it on forums. Just goes to show that websites dedicated to Mazdaspeeds and with millions of miles of practical ownership experience >>> the experience of dealership techs, at least in this case.

Mine broke about a year and a half ago, had my buddies dad weld it. Did the dragon and multiple autocross events in it with no problems yet. Called the dealer when it happened, they basically said tough shit.

Mine wobbles, but nothing crazy. Going to work on it this weekend. Just ordered 8 of these Push Washers "BBM4-88-356". I remember reading in the GenPu, only of one these are on the pin that holds the seat together, and that it calls for two on each pin. Hoping nothing else is breaking with it.
