What were they reading before the FMIC?

typically around 105-125 on a warm day when it would be 105F outside
    I was on Corksport TMIC.

Are you sure you arent comparing cruising temps with heat soaked ones?

I have FMIC and and when its ~95 deg out here I see BATs at ~150 plus when sitting for too long. So I wouldnt worry about 170 if you are sitting in over 100 degree ambient temps.

Heat soak is when you are sitting in a Starbuck's drive through waiting for that bomb ass Triple, Venti, Half Sweet, Non-Fat, Caramel Macchiato to come out the window.

edit: Get a data log (with the proper variables selected) of it spiking high real quick and upload it here.

You need to log a wot pull to compare sitting at a traffic light is meaningless.

Make sure the intercooler isn't resting against the radiator and that you have blocked off all of the ways for air to bypass the radiator

^ exactly! gotta make sure it's actually pushing air into that intercooler
