Yea no rev hang whatsoever here. That’s deleted with the tune. My ultra light weight flywheel also helps. Revs drop so fast between shifts it’s actually noticeable if you aren’t quick enough lol.

I’m not sure I’m up for the challenge of clutch less downshifting. I wonder if anyone uses that technique on track. I’m just trying to picture it on track lol. I guess we’ll see.

I’ve got rotors on order as mine are pretty beat. Pricing has increased to crazy amounts so I ordered from some local shop who had the old pricing still. I called them, they said the price was good so I ordered. Hopefully that doesn’t end up cancelled.

after that, the cars probably gonna get a minor alignment tweak(little more front camber as I’m now hauling ass faster through the corners I am rolling the tire a little).

It’s cool driving a car with a useable scrub radius. I’ve never driven like that. Dive into the corner and if it’s a little hot, the front will scrub and bit and I can make adjustments as necessary. With the Mazda it was kinda like you have grip or you’re off the track. It didn’t really have this “progressive break away” or scrub radius I guess.

many new things being learned here.

    Have you ever used RaceRender?

If you can datalog, get GPS/telemetry data you can impose it over your videos. Definitely helps to see areas of improvement.

Also are you still on factory seats? You seem move and bounce quite a bit. I did a track day in the Miata and literally had to use my elbows to brace myself.

If you go back to my Mazda build thread my early videos I used race render a ton to display track map, speeds, and G forces.

the GoPro gps has not been working lately at all. Last 2 seasons I haven’t gotten any usable telemetry data. The shit simply doesn’t work anymore. I’m lucky in the civic I can see the speed clearly in the videos. At least gives me an idea on corner speeds and whatnot

I have an aim MXM dash sitting in my garage. I need to install that thing but I’m having trouble coming up with a mounting solution.

this device will collect all my data, telemetry, lap times, I will have oil temp/pressure plumbed into it as well as whatever the cars canbus system gives. This will be a useful tool for me going forward for sure. If I can find a way to overlay this data on my videos I definitely will.

You are the 3rd person to notice how much I move around. It is physically exhausting driving that car hard. I am death gripping the steering wheel to keep myself upright, leg pinned against the door. It’s pretty crazy.

This seat has been sitting in my garage since 2018. It was intended for the Mazda. It’s now sitting on low profile brackets for my civic. I really need to install this thing as I feel it’ll go a long way.

Haven’t really updated in a while but definitely have some updates. We’ll start here
Ride Along in the civic | Toronto Motorsports Park

been working on braking later, and carrying more speed into the corner. I’ve added a significant amount of apex speed lately lol. Broke a little too deep on one of my test laps there and almost didn’t make it.
Apparently it’s a good thing I had the balls to brake that deep? Better too much then not enough I guess lol

Little update here for all, i know its been a while. Been busy getting seat time and just learning the car/learning to drive better.

At this point the car has seen 12 track days this season. 8 last season.

Tire life: The falken RT660's have been pretty good for life. The fronts finally corded after 6 track days, and the rears are still like new. I am too aggressive on throttle at corner exit and i need to work on that. This should help me get a ton more life out of my tires. I have been happy with the falkens. They provide great grip for the cost and they come up to temp super quickly. They also last long enough for 4-5 hot laps without falling off. After that they are done however and do require a cool down. Being easier on the throttle should help me here.

My brakes went through 9 track days before i cracked a rotor. Pads are still good to go.
Stoptech is heavily back ordered, no one on earth has these rotors or any of the rotors that work for my setup. This has sucked
    IMG_1283.JPG

This was a slotted rotor lol...

    IMG_1327.JPG

    that wear though lol..
    IMG_1324.JPG

TSX brake setup has gone back on for the rest of the season. TSX calipers/rotors with hawk dtc60s. I immediately noticed the added weight and the reduction in stopping power. Its ok for now though lol, whatever gets me back on track.

    IMG_1323.JPG

I also recently installed my sparco bucket seat and let me tell ya...what a difference. Can really feel whats going on with the car now, front grip vs rear grip. Plus no more work outs while lapping!! woooo lol
no sliders. Seat is mounted solid to the base. The sliders raise the seat too high and my head ends up in the roof. No good lol. Sliders can also be a little sketchy on track..i had a buddy tell me his failed on him on track while the car was fully loaded...and hes like 100lbs smaller then me. yea...im ok with no sliders lol. took some messing around to get the seating position correct though.
    IMG_1346.JPG

Airbag light i have deleted with a resistor. that worked great
    IMG_1359.JPG

Honda super meet was at our local track 2 weeks ago. had a great time! Many hondas on track and i was far from the slowest so that was great!

Me and my buddy talking lines
    356A636A-D7AE-4387-887B-417A2A4AA0C2.jpg

I did the honda super meet on my hankook RS4 tires, 235/45/17. SIGNIFICANTLY less grip vs the RT660 setup but i was almost matching my RT660 times...which i also had the bbk installed for. Im definitely learning, and getting faster. Love it.

Video form this weekends track day,
learning to carry a ton more speed through the corners. Its a ton of fun and a little scary. part of the learning i guess!!

The car is just a touch under 2800lbs currently. That ain’t bad at all. I do have some more weight reduction to do but I do plan to keep the interior together.

will be removing all AC components soon. Compressor condenser and all the lines. Should free up another 30-40lbs. Getting closer to that 26xx number. Not freaking bad

why keep the whole interior? i get that you dont want a completely stripped car but at least the back seat could go

For me it’s more about the cars street presence. I don’t want it looking like a bucket tin can POS. Which it borderline is lol.

also for classing. If I compete next season which I may, they’ll hit me pretty hard for removing interior where as the rest of my weight reduction is not noticeable. Kinda stealth.

titanium exhaust will be another 20-30lbs savings over stock which is also something no one will notice.

Removing the interior itself doesn't really drop that much weight unless you're going to fully delete the HVAC system, extra wiring, and so on. Basically just a seat and a cluster inside the car and nothing else.

The rear bench/seats remove about 35lbs. It’s something but not crazy. I’d probably put a bucket seat into the passenger side first.

my sparco sprint seat weighs 24lbs. The sparco evo qrt XL weighs 14lbs. I’ll be upgrading to one next season most likely.

When you have 160wheel torque, this pro tip goes along way.

The joke when I was into mountain biking was that guys would spend hundreds of dollars to shave a gram or two when they could just skip breakfast instead

Stock cams, stock cat back, just some crappy muffler.
Estimated power is like 190whp and 155wtq. In and around there.

I have cams to install, and still need a proper cat back. Also need to install my larger throttle body then a new tune and that should gain me ~40whp. I’m planning to run the car NA for another season.
