Above is the exhaust that @xfeejayx and I created. The concept
is simple: stock exhaust section with hangers cut and u-bolted to a 2.5" x 24" cherrybomb with a vatozone turn down.
Sounds fantastic, took an afternoon to create and install, and frees up a ton of space near the rear axle.

@xfeejayx attached the cherrybomb to the carrier bearing and added some insulating wrap for good measure.

turn down, directing hot exhaust away from the diff and axle u-joints.

One day, once the handling of racecar is better sorted out, I'll revisit this with a larger flanged cherry bomb (3" x36") and weld on exhaust hangers. In the meantime, this works too well to mess with.

@phate has a stumpy version of this.

I thought they were too, but it is a shadow. Them are metal.

I had those bombs on by bug for a while, but were crazy loud.

I was sold on the cherry bomb after I welded up an exhaust with boost activated cutout dump on my 3.

The turbo muffles alot of the exhaust tone. The CB further cuts the decibels and cuts the annoying high tones.
Clint runs his 6 straight pipe after the DP, and it doesn't make my ears bleed like some of the loud NA exhaust systems.
I wouldn't run a resonator only system on an NA car.

Don't those Cherry Bombs have louvered cores? I stay away from them. Perforated core all the way for me; my Magnaflow is perforated core.

    Free.99 > perf cores

Also waiting on promised food stamps @Raider

No audio thus far. But for a picture of what these cars sound like without mufflers, the video below is a similar exhaust note.
11:00-15:00 is relevant. Excuse the asshattery, it's Might Car Mods.

@ConeKiller and @xfeejayx put together a super quiet setup, WAAYYYYYY quieter than mine, and it sounds pretty good!

Here's the dumped straight pipe version of this (turn down below rear seat) :D We passed sound 3 different times for autocross - they measure 50' from the course and the limit is 100dB. We measured 88, 91, and 97dB, depending on the day.

Because I suck at forum stuff (@Raider knows) and I don't have a Youtube video of it, here's a link to my exhaust clip on my Instagram. Custom system, 3" from the turbo to a 3" in/Dual 2.5" out Flowmaster 10 out the back. I love it.

P.S. I'm really just hungry for followers.

Can't be worse than this setup:

For the record, hard mounted is no bueno.

Not really. The only ways to avoid getting physically ill were to either keep it below 3k or wear ear plugs. As such, I called it the "Honzda" exhaust. Fucking terrible.
