    That's interesting....

Edit: would still be a pain in the ass because at least one of them would still have to be installed the wrong way and fixed with a nut underneath (that has no clearance for a lock washer or anything)... That's also the only one that's still on the car.

Miatas have the same issue with heat expansion pushing the studs out. My car does it. I have to retorque the exhaust manifold nuts every few oil changes.

Whenever I get around to putting the bigger turbo on I was gonna install new studs and nuts such as those. Seems to be the best way to fix it.

Funny thing about lock washers. They don't provide any actual locking force.

    Use red locktite and torque

I thought red loctite broke free with heat?

    Also, vbands.

I'd try the lock washer stud fix I suggested before buying a whole new setup. Unless you want an excuse to upgrade which no one will complain about besides your wallet.

    You're

What I'm more worried about is this happening again at one or more of the corners. Again, I don't really want to clearance everything as it's all ceramic coated, plus I'd have to get into the weld at the flange on more than one corner. I also really, *really* don't want to have to retighten stuff every so often, which is why I'm leaning towards the vband option.

Pretty sure the exhaust manifold will get hotter than that.

Maybe but I think it's worth a shot before you buy a bunch of new parts

As long as I can use PayPal for the bulk of it (6mo no interest) I'm gonna go new parts route.
I would have figured people would want me investing more money into the Speed, since doing so increases my chances of saying "fuck it" and doing a full rebuild.

The exhaust valve stems on 1,2 and 3 were kind of ashy white, while the ones on 4 were black and looked like they had some burned oil buildup.

Is the exhaust manifold scorched? And the valve condition would point at four having the broken ringland and it would appear that the ringland took some of the turbo with it on the way to hell

Burned from overheating as in material discolored. If its soot that's ok since we know the gasket was missing
