hey guys, i'm tuning with purple drank and it looks like my boost temps are high, almost 180 on a 2nd back to back pull in 4th gear.

boost air temp was 176 degrees with a 93.2 degree intake temp

    i installed a corksport cst4 turbo @21psi

at the same time i installed a CX racing FMIC

i'm assuming the core is junk and doesn't cool well? anyone have experience with this or thoughts?

something is fucky i've never even seen close to 176* bats. Are you positive you're not looking at coolant temperatures

I don’t have the cx kit but based on basically the whole mazdaspeed world, the CX core is worse then the oem top mount. Highly suggested you upgrade it when you can to something better ie. tread stone tr6/tr8

Yup! Either of those will bolt up to the piping and give you serious improvements

ok, will at PD tuning recommended the tr8 core. it would require a new crash bar or modify the original. i wasn't too happy with this whole kit when i got it. Corksport now has the FMIC kit that moves the piping to the driver side. says it's good for 500-550hp.

You could get the tr6 without modification

Tr6 will fit without modification and tr8 will need minor cutting of the crash bar to fit.

Yeah, that cxracing core is complete garbage. I experienced that myself.

You will DEFINITELY see an improvement with the tr8 vs cx core. While you're in there with the bumper and shit off, if you fashion up some additional ducting to force air through the core and radiator you'll see even better BAT and ECT.

okay guys, i installed the TR8 i did not have to modify the crash bar at all. it bolted right on to the CX racing couplers and it's butted up to the bottom of the crash bar. i utilized the cx racing core mount and reformed the angle brackets and added a couple of brackets to bolt the treadstone up to the crash bar....

Boost temps are now COOOOOOOL! that CX racing core is junk. although i installed it when i did the turbo upgrade i never had datalogs on the factory top mount to compare.

when i have some time im going to construct some sort of air dam to force more air through it.

Glad to hear it's sorted. Yup ducting will help BAT and Coolant temps
