    Hey guys and gals,

I recently purchased a Forge BPV from Edge Autosport; model no. FMWRX3.

It came with 3 springs (blue, yellow, and red) and no shims and no instructions. For the life of me I cannot find instructions for it...I know how to install the valve, but I don't know what spring to run with and if it should have come with shims (it came with none).

Something this easy, should be simple.

My boost targets are roughly max 20 psi, which tapers down to 16-18 psi at redline on the stock K04. I bought the valve for when I upgrade to the BNR S3 this summer...I know I don't need this for the K04.

Second question is how do I know if this is a V1 or V2 model? Or is that terminology no longer used with the Forge BPVs? I've included pictures from my current tune on 91 and e30 to help determine spring and shim config.

    Thanks!

    Andrew

blowoff valves and bypass valves arent based off boost pressure theyre based off vaccum. normally on our cars itll peak at like -11 or -11.5 or something. You probably wont need to shim it.

"The weakest spring is GREEN, followed by YELLOW, BLUE, and RED"
What i would do is load the Red spring and if it flutters a ton then go down until it doesnt do it that much. Some flutter is pretty normal usually.

Or just wait for someone with the bpv to respond lmao

    Thanks man!

There is a range for each spring, but some depend on having shims or some designs may be shim-less.

And the range for each spring colour seems to change for each model and style of BPV available.

I did reach out to Edge Autosport for technical support. So hopefully they'll get back to me tomorrow. I just wanted to see if anyone had a quicker answer, haha.

    Thanks @Awafrican and @Raider.

I'm definitely going to confirm the shim thing with Edge Autosport, because their site had the shims in the picture.

In the link you provided to the tuning kit, the yellow spring is good for 15-23 psi and the blue is good for 23-30 psi.

Would the blue be too strong for my current setup? Sorry for asking the questions...if they changed to no shims, it's possible they may have changed the spring rating as well.

Just curious what the symptoms might be with a spring that is too strong.

I took it all apart yesterday before posting here to check to see if they were inside. No dice :(

Blue 2 shims say it with me.

With no shims probably just blue. You could certainly try yellow and take a log to see if it's staying closed.
