Forge bypass valve rotation?

I have the Forge FMDVMAZ3S bypass valve. It is different from the one referred to here:

Mine has a different angle from OEM and so the larger hole won’t line up with the hose.



But it seems like it might be able to rotate (I’ve seen a video where it is orientated like OEM). I can’t figure out how to rotate it though.

The only thing I see are these two holes (nothing on the opposing side):



Inside they have little rubber pieces which appear to be wedged in to prevent rotation. But I have no idea how to remove the rubber pieces or if removing them would even allow rotation and what I’d do to prevent rotation. Trying to rotate by hand doesn’t budge at all.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

 

How far off is it? When I went to a turbosmart valve I had to get a longer hose. I just took the OE one with me to an auto parts store and found a hose similar to it.

 

Here you can see the difference in angle vs. OEM. The hose would need to bend. I had been looking for flexible silicon hoses but then I realised that maybe the housing rotates.

 

Ah ok. Does the base have a seam where it could be pressed on or bolted? I still think just getting a longer hose would work. That side of the system is never under any pressure so a radiator hose/heater core hose would be easiest to source.

Have you also tried using 90° needle nose pliers in the two holes from the first pic? Maybe that would get it to turn. If it is threaded to the base and you get it to unscrew, be sure to add loctite to the treads once clocked so it doesn't loosen up.

 

I gave it a try and it’s not budging. I asked the dude who I bought it from and he said he adjusted it for his setup but also didn’t tell me how to adjust it back to OEM position

I think what you suggest is probably my best option. I’ll check out what hoses the local auto parts shop has.

 

Take two screw drivers and put them in when holes while holding the body and turn. It may be a reverse thread so give both directions a try

 

Just as an update…

I was able to rotate it using a bottom bracket tool for use on bicycles

Strangely after tightening it and after I installed it the upper portion became loose. Somehow the bolts tightening it to the intercooler loosens it. So I had to set it at the rotation necessary where I knew it would go after it loosened and then tightened it rotating by hand after installed. A little weird but it seems to be ok.
