Hello! I've had a problem with my passenger side low beam for awhile and its not the bulb or the fuse. I'm going to assume its the ballast, I will check that probably sometime tomorrow if I find a fuck to give. Are there 2 different types of headlights for the speed 6? when I look on rock auto the connection looks completely different than the one I have. A ballast is $50 and a new headlight is literally $130 on the website. only reason I'm asking is cause I kind of cracked my headlight replacing the lens so it might be easier just to replace the fucking thing. Attached is the low beam to my car. please let me know! I think its the same as the Rx7 don't quote me on that.

The low beam in the Speed6 is HID and takes a DS2 bulb like the one you have pictured. The other could be the high beam bulb, non HID H1. I just popped onto RockAuto, low beam is under HID section if you scroll down, the rest are for high beam. With the HID, if you research the tempurature rating (K), you can "tune" the light output to your preference. I wanted a clean white light, or 6000K.

The thread header is asking about the "headlight assembly", Speed6 or regular MZ6 housing. I dont think the MZ6 had HID option, but would be possible to bolt into the Speeds.

oh, my question is more along the lines of the lowbeam housing on the headlights from rockauto dont look like mine. Is there a different lowbeam on the mazda 6 headlights compared to the speed 6 headlights haha.

The 2 listed as w/Mazdaspeed (bottom of the list) would be for our cars. They would have the proper mountings for the lighting inside the housings. The other versions have non HID mountings and integrated fog lamp options. I am unaware of any non-Speed6 cars having HID. All that in mind, buying anything from RockAuto can be a crap shoot. You never really know if the listing is correct until it ends up in your hand.

The pictures on rock auto can be generic and not necessarily the part you are ordering. Their part numbers are good though so try searching the part number and manufacturer to get a better idea

Are you saying the regular 2006 Mazda6 headlight assembly won’t fit or work in a Speed6? Or are you referring to putting HID parts in a regular 6 assembly? I’d actually prefer to get rid of HID and I was considering finding a regular 6 to get the headlights from.

I would assume they would bolt in but have no way of confirming this. All I know is that its a different part number

I got some headlights off aliexpress forever ago, and the HID kit from retrofit source. They have a nice projector for low beams, which also has a flap that moves up when you turn on the high beams. It also has a second projector for high beams, so when you flash your brights it will get BRIGHT. Newer models have projectors tuned for LEDs vs Xenon and at this point, it's almost tempting to upgrade. Did you ever end up picking out a new headlight assembly?
