I have a 2006 mazdaspeed6 BONE STOCK. Around 3500 to 4000 rpm the car hesitates and stalls almost as if the car is literally turning on and off. This hesitation and stalling however only happens when I floor it. I have also notice that when I drive with no air filter, the car does not hesitate at all. I try to find an air leak in which I'm guessing there is but haven't found any luck. The car doesn't throw any codes and just doesn't feel as strong. Any help? Please? Suggestions?

Could very much be clogged cats atleast that's the first link on Google if you search "car stalls at 4000rpm" could be loosing fuel pressure do you have a way to read hpfp Pressure at all? A prv test would be in order too

Are you 100% certain removing the air filter makes it better? If you removed it just one time and if it was a coincidence then it could be confusing the issue.

When you took out the air filter did you close back up the air box or did you leave it open?

Do you have any means of data logging for someone here to look over. With the info you have provided, there isnt much to go on.

Sorry for the late response, but I just did a compression test and it turns out all's cylinders are low. #1 and #2 are 135 psi #3 is at 120 and #4 is at 130.
