Hey guys, so for the pasy year, I have been getting tooned by Rob, and as we were progressing i noticed that my numbers were very low. So I talked to Rob and he told me that I much have a boost leak somewhere. I did a boost leak test (several of them) and Most of what I found were actually vacuum leaks, however, I eventually found a leak at the turbo around the compressor housing. After doing some reasearch, apparently it has been common that the BNRs3 Turbo bolts can come loose or even back out causing a boost leak. So, this past weekend, I finally had time with my brothers help to pull the turbo and try and put some sealant with washers on it to prevent the leak, but we found a bigger problem. There are 2 cracks around the waste-gate flapper. (pictures below). So i believe this has been the main source of my boost leak as well as the leaking from the compressor housing threads. I also want to point out that I believe it was from the threads based on what I could see, it could also be from the CHRA. So i am going to try and reach out to BNR and see what we can do to try and fix it. I have also thought about upgrading to the BNRs4.

Dont really want to start that kind of a party. I am only telling my story and expedience. Never had an issue with my turbo until this past year and didnt know how bad it really was until I pulled the turbo to inspect it myself.

Does the crack go all the way through? Cracking in the housing is normal. I had it on my srt4, my gst eclipse, and my tsi talon. I think it's just the nature of the internal wastegate. I would contact BNR and see what they say. You can always weld and smooth it down to fix it. I know for a fact they did that on the srt4 wastegate manifolds.

    Bryan from BNR

"While that crack isn't supposed to be there I doubt it is making any noticeable difference. The compressor housing threads are an issue though. You might also have an actuator issue. Another actuator would cost you $65 shipped to the lower 48 if that's the problem. I would put liquid thread sealant on the compressor bolts and see if that makes any difference. If it isn't leaking boost after that but still isn't holding boost I would swap the actuator. If it is smoking or not making boost then you may need a replacement cartridge and those run $400 plus shipping."

So I might try the sealant since I already have it. Then if that does t work, get a wastegate. If that doesn't work, might just get an S4.

Went ahead and ordered the actuator. So I am going to go ahead as use Deacon 8875 for my sealant for the threads and then swap out the actuator before I slap the turbo back on. Really hope this fixes my issue.
