Finished going over the the wiring in the cab. Ended up removing the meth controller as well as a greedy turbo timer. I did not like how they were installed.

Left the GM rear view mirror wiring installed for now. The wire job did irritated me a bit. I'll let it slide for now until I decide if I keep the mirror or not [IMG]

The wiring is kind of a pain in the dick on these cars too. I remember one of the first issues i had was a switch on the hood latch that shorted to ground and killed my instrument cluster. Took me a pretty long time to figure it out since it wasnt listed properly in the srm.

Hell yeah. You can Bring the wife and kid(s) over if they desire. The warden likes to entertain guests as well. Got to see/hear that install in person. Would be nice to have a few guys over here to mount the engine and transmission. Then we can either play some Texas style hold em or battleship.

I may have more bad news.

I am trying to get this car registered from Washington to California. No big deal, Right? California requires me to have a verifier come see the car and make sure all the numbers match in order to register my car. The VIN that is stamped and plated on the body match fine. However I cant seem to find a VIN on the block. Even if I could find one, I doubt it would match since this is a new purchased block from mazda. Do our engines come with a matching VIN stamp on the block?

    If not, no big deal.

If so, big deal. The verifier will then refer me to LAW enforcement so the police can verrify they the engine is not stolen (I have the original receipt). Then once I get Law certified then I will have to go to a referee where they will determine if the engine meets California SMOG regulations. So I get to build my car to be completly stock. Unfortunately the engine may not pass anyway as it has a Ported head, Wiseco pistons, Manley I beam Rods, ect, ect. If it passes, I get a sticker and we are good to go. If it fails im just going to part this thing out and buy myself a new longblock from mazda. Leave it stock and delete this thread.

I sure love living in California.

If the block will have no problem running on the stock tune i dont see how it wouldnt pass smog. they cant exactly pull the intake manifold or drop the oil pan to inspect.

Smog check is not what I'm worried about. The Referee's here are extremely intelligent in detecting hidden modifications. But hope I don't even have to go though that.

    Digging in a little deeper:

Hope there is some light at the end of the tunnel. I'm just going to call the local Verifier and ask him. Maybe I'm getting paranoid for no reason.

replacement of like kind isnt an issue, Its the swap issues. When i was there the big thing was stock it out for inspect. i will never ever become a permanent resident of California. too much nit picky rules.

It's pretty bad. I personally enjoy the weapon bans simply based on cosmetic looks. I can understand the strict smog laws though. We have way too many people living in this state, and our air quality is horrible. If you live up in low population counties the smog laws are not existent. But who wants to live in the middle of no where?

Living in the middle of no where is 10x better, trust me. Spent the first 24 years of my life in Dallas and that shit sucks, toll roads everywhere, traffic all the time, id never move back to the city. Plus no inspections at all, ever. No cops either, i can do 4th gear pulls all day long on my road.

Tarrant County >>> Dallas County. Been in DFW since '81, and I know firsthand that stuff gets crazy when you cross the county line into Dallas...
