Here is my build log of my 08 Mazdaspeed3.

    History:
I purchased the car back in 2017, with the previous owner having done lots of mods to it already. I previously owned a regular 05 Mazda3, and wanted something faster. This vehicle has been my first experience with any kinda forced induction. What a journey and learning experience those 3 years have been so far. I didn't do much research coming into the platform, I just wanted a fast and reliable car that I had no plans on doing my own mods and stuff on. Drove pretty decent for about a year of owning it. Towards the end of the first year owning it, it started misfiring like crazy. Knowing nothing about cars, let alone forced induction cars, I brought it to a local shop when I lived in Vancouver Canada at the time. I had them take a look/tune the thing and the outcome wasn't good. I had really bad compression on two of the cylinders, most likely due to the fact the the HPFP wasn't actually Autotechs, as advertised when I purchased the car. There had been a lot done to the car by the previous owner, including a OTS tune but as I found out later, it was still the stock HPFP. At that point, I loved the car too much to just sell it, so I decided to purchase the Corksport Dankai 1 motor and have a shop swap it out for me. Since then, it's been a downhill ride for my wallet, and tons of learning and fun, trying to do most things myself.

    6/6/2020:

Having ran the Dankai 1 motor at a reasonable 290WHP @ 19PSI for about 2 years or so, I figure it's time to turn up the boost. I'm sure I can get closer to 350WHP on my current mods, but as I told my local tuner, I wanted to be pretty conservative at the time. This time around, I will be going for 400-450WHP, which means the need for Aux fueling, and some other mods. As of a couple days ago, I went from a Corksport TMIC to a FMIC setup with CXRacing piping kit and a Treadstone TR8 core. After switching to the FMIC setup, I ran into a pretty big boost leak, which I'm pretty sure I solved now after some research on the CXRacing piping kit. I also wasn't sure how tight to set the clamps to, so I initially went conservative on the torque. This time around, I reefed on the clamps pretty good and also used mostly constant tension clamps on the hoses. I am currently experiencing a P0340 code for the CMP, and the car also starts and immediately stalls. So I've ordered a replacement sensor, hopefully that solves the issue. At this point, I'm also looking to swap out the intake manifold and clean the intake valves in the process. I scored a brand new ST manifold locally for cheap, so I am going with the Damond adapter pretty soon here, with PI. Also, I seem to be the only one running NGK's Ruthenium HX Spark Plugs (gapped to 0.021) on the Mazdaspeed platform. After changing back to Iridium spark plugs, I noticed a decent difference in how smooth the engine feels, so for now, I'm sticking with Ruthenium's. More to come hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
