Hey guys I don't post on here much but was wondering if anyone has any advice on my long sad journey through a rebuild. Dec 2015 gave my car to a mechanic who specializes in awd turbo cars. He is a local mechanic so I wanted to support the area. I heard mixed reviews and also got other estimates but decided on staying local so I could see the progress and be able to be close by. The long and short of it is they took out the engine in 2015 and it sat inside for about 6 months. I visited on and off for weeks and he always told me next week or when I get this car I'm working on finished. It's now 2017 and my car has been sitting outside rusting away and the only thing done is the head. The block still needs work done and I have contacted every outlet out there and they all say they can't get an answer. The worst part is I'm going to have to file a civil suit to get my money I put out for half the parts and labor. O yeah the estimated job was supposed to be 6-8 weeks. Any input would be greatly appreciated by any of you.

Oh man that's rough. I would try and go after them for the new damages as well. (Rust)

You may not like this answer but I believe it would be in your best interest. I'm not sure of your power goals, but if you plan on sticking under 400 or so I honestly would buy a new motor from edge, have the car towed to a different, credible shop and have them drop in the new motor. You can then sell your old long block. If you go this route, you can try and have the shop pay for the towing fee to the new shop.

Call up Speed 1 in Allentown. (610) 756-3000

If my memory is correct the owner used to be the regional technical trainer for Mazda. They're well regarded in the rotary community.

That was the way I was heading. Heard good things about the business. Thanks.

Good deal. I'd offer to come down and spend a weekend or two putting things together but I'm not a childless bachelor anymore.

If you need something specific let me know. I work just outside of Easton and live about 30 minutes from Allentown so I'm in the area a lot.

Sounds good. I'm off of Freemansburg Ave exit on 33. There is so much that I have to do before I get it to that shop so it will be awhile. Towing, gathering all the parts and nuts and bolts, transfer case...etc. I'm sure you already know.

Well guys it's a great day. Speed1 is going to take on my nightmare and get me back in my ms6. Hopefully I get most of my nuts and bolts back so it doesn't turn into a money pit for shit I already had that a shop lost or just plan screwed me on. I just want a reliable build that puts a smile on my face for my own enjoyment. Here it goes to the 3rd shop!
