I have a shop that is installing my new long block for my 2011 Speed3. They are a very reputable shop and have delt with some Speed3's in the past. They just called me to inform me that they are undergoing the break in right now, and that they have ran through 2 sets of plugs since this morning. The car starts and runs smooth for a minute and then starts running erratic. The mechanic states that he thinks it is getting too much fuel and is flooding. Both sets of plugs have come out black as hell. According to him, everything is installed correctly. I have a fresh AT internals installed as well.

Can anyone help me think of things that could be causing it to flood? I dont want him tearing into anything costing me more money until I can give him a general direction to look. Could it be a tuning issue? It has a 91 octane stock turbo map on it right now... But I have the Corksport Turbo installed on it now after engine rebuild.

Any thoughts, guidance, or even roasting is appreciated.

My money is the tune. Get a basemap and start over.

If they were as good as you say they are, they would be working on a solution, not you. But that is just me.

Well, I somewhat halted their problem solving because I wanted to give them a general direction to start at. I'll start with the tune and hopefully that will iron it out. Is it possible that all four injectors got stuck open sitting for so long?? lol.

The datalogs would show that, I think.

If the tune doesn't fix the issue, I will post the datalogs tonight.

Well, it wasn't the tune... It was seriously the smallest damn thing and I'm a little upset they didn't notice it. They forgot to attach a ground wire. It was laying next to the ground, and when the engine would crank, it would cause that wire to connect at times and it would fire up... Under idle, the wire would then shake off of the connection and the car would just die. I pulled the intercooler to take a gander at my plugs and a damn wire plopped down on top of the engine. Sure shit, it was a ground wire that wasn't connected. Hooked it up, and she fired up smooth as can be. I guess even the best of mechanics can miss the little things at times, although it's highly annoying.

The classic tiny ass ground wire issue. Well at least it was an easy fix.

You'd think a shop would start checking those first. Same way PC techs tell people to make sure it is plugged in.

Congrats on figuring that out op! Definitely still get a tune though lol. Why did you decide to build but not go BT? If you don't mind me asking

I know. But the CS turbo is perfect for a stock block IMO. If you're going to build, might as well go bigger.

Money, mainly. Blew the K04 and the engine basically at the same time... so funds were tight. CS turbo was a nice swap without having to change anything out. I decided to go forged for the day that I do decide to upgrade to a 3076 or S4.
[doublepost=1465414594][/doublepost]Oh, I am also getting tuned, so that is in the works. Justin is hooking me up with a 91 tune and some corn fed goodness.
