I am considering picking up a CS short shifter but I am on a spending hibernation right now... gotta try and have more oil changes than turbo/suspension setup changes for a little while lol

Replaced my crank position sensor yesterday to try and get rid of my P0016 with no luck :( I'm going to try a friend's cam position sensor and if that doesn't work I guess I'll have to dig in and check if timing is off by a tooth or something. Since it takes two starts of the motor to trigger the P0016, I'm thinking it's the timing unfortunately. The sensor is lined up nice and perfectly so I can't imagine it's that:

I also started work on getting my car to pass MD emissions. You're only allowed 2 unready codes and I'm thinking that I use both of those up with my lack of VTCS. I added in a defowler into my rear O2 sensor and made an adapter to plumb my EGR into the JMF manifold. Typing this up now makes me wonder if I can add the VTSC actuator back into the car (just plugged in and chilling in my engine bay) and possibly uncheck another code. I guess it'll take some experimentation on my side.

Also got in a good bath for the car and shined up the wheels. You need sunglasses to look at these things! All teh sparkles

and yes, I put tire shine on r comp tires :p

Ordered a set of center caps for my RPF1s. A company makes these and they're completely customizable for color, logo, etc... I personally think they look better than actual Enkei brand RPF1 center caps and are around half the price as well.

    Neverrrrrrrrrrr!!!

They're top notch quality! I'm glad I found them too, they really spruce up the look of the wheels and were only like $50.

Passed emissions this morning! I had Will turn off P0016 in my tune so that code wouldn't come back and cause me to fail. I gotta say, for building the motor myself and making >600whp, I am pretty pleased I was able to pass an emissions test.

Time to take off my EGR again and go back to driving aggressively!

The wheels are JEGS Sport Star cast aluminum wheels. The fronts are 15x8 with a 4.5" backspacing. I need a 25mm spacer to clear everything in the front though. You only need to grind a tiny bit off your calipers too, you could probably do it with a file if don't have a grinder. Rear wheels are 15x4 with some random skinny all season tire on them.

I honestly prefer the NT01s over the Hoosiers for street use. It's nice to not have to worry so much if it's going to rain, as the Nittos are more of a streetable tire than the Hoosiers. I even get pretty good traction in 2nd which is impressive all things considered.

Hmm... I took the car to work today so it's got about 16 more miles on it today than it did yesterday.

Oh and my axleback keeps falling off. it's a slip fit and I lost one of the clamp bolts. Whenever I flat foot shift it just comes out and then the interior of the car drones a ton. So I guesss I should eventually find another bolt for that exhaust band clamp!

Honestly just ignoring it at the moment. I've replaced crank and cam sensors so I feel that the timing may be off one tooth possibly. The motor is running great though, so I am really not sure if the P0016 is really doing anything negative to the car..... hopefully?

If you're impatient and don't want to read a lot: 12.166@124.17

So: Friday I had plans to go to the track and actually went this time! This was really just to feel out the car since I've never taken it down the 1/4 on a slick yet. I think the track was pretty hot because my car was NOT enjoying the 2nd gear burnout; it just bogged and I could only build about 8psi for the burnout. Likely then since I didn't have much heat in the tires, my launch was spin city resulting in a 2.0 60'. Not the worst, but certainly not slick territory. I will say though, it felt much faster than a 2.0 60' based on how hard I was pinned back in my seat. Definitely a new experience for me. Anyway, I'll be honest and say I'm VERY rusty because I basically forgot to shift at the top of third and was all over the track. Whatever, I had fun and nothing seriously broke so I call the night a win. Midway through my second pass I popped a coupler and everything was way too hot to reach my hands in to fix it before the end of the night.

So, for the weather being about 88 degrees, high humidity, and a DA north of 2500'ASL - I guess I can't be too disappointed in myself:
    IMG_20170708_001214.jpg

and the shot of the tires:
    IMG_20170707_202724.jpg

And my dad's excuse for only filming half my pass was that he didn't have a zoom lens on his camera:

Turns out I didn't pop a coupler on the second pass. I looked over my logs and saw the classic signs for sticky death. Just cleaned out my HPFP and she's running goooooood.

I'm thinking maybe at every 1000 mile mark or so I'll try and clean out my pressure release valve just as a precaution. Since the car isn't my daily and isn't driven a whole lot, does anyone think maybe the HPFP is likely to clog up more quickly than usual?
